Lander reminds me of Wax in the prologue of Shadows of Self, and I am loving it! "He scanned the room, hands on hips hoping he'd draw attention. He didn't, which nagged at him. Why wear a fine city suit, with a lavender cravat, if nobody was going to notice?"

I listen with amusement, as the nobleman talks to the bartender. Maybe I could ask the bartender for a job so I won't have to sleep in an alley. Plus, it will let me know who is worth pick-pocketing if he fires me. If that fails, I could probably just rob the nobleman. Wait until night, and until he is alone. I could live for YEARS off of what I stole from him. Although it would make me need to leave the town immediately, and I DID just get here... no, but that doesn't mean I can't pick-pocket him. I am sitting next to him, so I carefully reach over and try to pick his pockets.

I just rolled twice, one for Sleight of Hand, and the other for Stealth. That way you can choose what you think I need.

Sleight of hand:13+4=17

Stealth:10+5=15

Yep, Lander is fun to play as. Also, since we are starting out, I don't have much for you to rob.

Well, your person probably has more than anything the NPC's would have. I mean, you ARE a nobleman. Besides, my character thinks you are a rich, pompous, idiot. My person is EXTREMELY biased. She doesn't like rich people because they are overprivileged in her opinion, and she doesn't like extroverts because in her experience cheerful people are better liars. She will continue to believe this about you unless you prove otherwise.

I figured that they just thought Lander was rich. hmm... Should we wait for null or should I just let you steal?

In general, I'd say wait for the DM. My character went out back before I knew that other people were coming in, and now I'm sitting out of the action...oh well.

If you want, you can always make a loophole, and pretend you left something in here. Then your character can notice the action, and become interested enough to stay... or something.

I expect that people will come out soon, anyway. It mostly feels odd to be playing D&D on such a slow timescale - an in-person game would probably be about 10 minutes in at this point.

yup. I don't know how long this will last. hopefully quite a while as Lander has some... things planned for him.

I'm just hoping that no one goes inactive, especially Null. This format really relies on quick, frequent responses.

Yeah, that would suck. I mean, If one of US goes inactive we could have that person die or something, but if Null goes inactive we will basically have to stop.

Does anyone know if I could still join, plus where I can find a character sheet? I can commit to be pretty active, I definitely won't go missing for days.

I don't know if you can still join, but you can use D&D beyond for the character sheet. You can create a character and then PM Null the link if you can join.

Ok, responses

Agreed, this is going to be really slow compared to an in person one. I have work and other responsibilities but I'm doing my best to get on here as much as I can. When school starts back up I'll be a little bit better, but regardless, don't freak out if I take a bit.

Somebody, I think we're reaching my limit of characters I can comfortably DM, but PM me and we can maybe work something out.

Landers, roll perception against her Sleigh of Hand roll

The bartender seems earnest, but you can tell something's a little off. "Perhaps, sir. Maybe you can..." he looks around, feigning embarassment. "Perhaps tell Anders to order normal ale rather than making me order Dwarven vintage from the mountains." The bar erupts in laughter, and a man in the corner swings his mug companionably.

"Good one, Edmond! But maybe the lord could just order you some drinks that taste better than soap!"

I rolled a 18 on perception (including bonuses)

"Kind sir, I truly mean to help here. I have a lot of influence in the world and I could maybe put in a word or two about this place. Kind words, of course. I don't say derogatory comments about my friends." Lander says with a slight grin.

The human girl that came in just a bit before you slips a hand into your pocket. You notice once your purse feels quite a bit lighter.

"Since you insist, my lord. We do see a fair amount of dangers out here. The odd kobold band or orc tribe. A few of us have lost cows or sheep to them in the past few years. But that's not much more than other frontier towns out here have to handle, and I do think that we've been doing fairly well for ourselves, eh?"

The bar similarly is filled with remarks of agreement.

I'll let Lola and Landers go after each other real quick, and then Edmond will come to the back.

Lander slowly palmed his dagger in one hand, hidden beneath his sleeve, and turns to the woman next to him. "What brings you here?"

I reach my hand into the nobleman's pocket, and slip out 5 gold and 2 silver. (or something similar. I'm guessing he has that much.) I then tuck the coins away into my bag.

I look at the nobleman with surprise. I am used to being ignored by those with ranks. Did he know I stole from him? Trying to use my age to my advantage, I try to look and sound innocent. "I am trying to find a friend of mine, my lord." I might as well suck up to him. He's more likely to ignore me if I do. "He came here last year, and decided to try and open a shop." This was all true, although it wasn't the ONLY reason I came. I had begun to be noticed in the last town I was in. It was so obscure, no one seemed to be aware of its existence. However, that doesn't mean they couldn't try and deal with me if I stole too much.

I turn back to the bartender. "If you aren't going to bring the food I paid you for, I would like my silver back." I can almost feel the nobleman's eyes looking at me. "Oh, and do you know if there is anywhere nearby I could try and get a job at? I really don't want to live on the streets."

15 gold, but close enough

"I would say that with skills of yours, you wouldn't need to find a job. You could just thrive off the pockets of men. eh?"

"Now, how about you return the money now, and report you? That simple. Or, another option would to run and I assure you, you won't get far. Or you could fight. And let me say, you won't last long." Lander says with a stern voice.

"I can pretend it never happened if you give it back now, maybe even let you keep a silver because of your skill. I almost didn't feel it. Takes a lot to do that."
"whatever you do, it's your choice, and your consequences."

Lander glances to the bartender, "didn't I order an ale?"

"Anyone in this town show up recently? Or suspicious?" Lander calls to the bartender as if nothing happened between him and the thief.

My eyes widen with shock. "How... What..." I push the coins over. "Impressive. No one has ever caught me before." Maybe my original opinion of him was wrong...

Congratulations. You have gained the admiration of Nala. Both the fact that you noticed, and the compliment about her skill.

"Were did you learn to do this?" Lander asks as he begins to relax on his stool. he gently put his dagger back but still keeps an eye on his money.

I walk into the tavern, sparing no glance for my surroundings. I look for unoccupied table.
