+Child of Hodor Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) RoW set up book 5 to have 10 days until the big clash of champions. Meaning everything is going to move really fast, but people like Shallan and Adolin are separated from everyone with no obvious way to get back in the action quickly. How will they get back to the others? Kalak will send/take them. One of his surges is the transportation surge. Oh but Heralds can't surgebind without their blades and he doesn't have his Honorblade ... or does he?!?! He was away from the fortress for months on "patrol" which is why the trial had to wait for him to come back (RoW Ch. 78). Mraize makes a vague comment to Shallan about how the Honorblades were in Shinovar, but the Ghostbloods are having trouble tracking them recently.(RoW Ch. 78). Ishar took his blade back and said Shinovar was a big 'ole mess. (Ch. 111). Simplest solution to Shallan and Adolin's problem is Kalak has his blade and will use Transportation to get them back. Why get more involved when he's been hiding this whole time? I dunno, maybe he feels bad and wants to help. He does write in the epigraphs that it's important that BAM is released and finding BAM is Shallan's goal. Edited December 15, 2020 by Child of Hodor 3
Theoryspren Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 I believe that Ishar has BAM. That is because of the dead eye spren who gathered outside Lasting Integrity. I think they gathered there because Ishar had BAM in the physical realm and because there is a bond between them and BAM they were drawn there. Now that Ishar is in the cognitive realm outside Lasting Integrity I believe Shallan and Adolin will learn Ishar has it and go on a daring mission to get the gem that holds BAM. I think they will then release BAM somehow and this will awaken Maya enough for her and Adolin to form a bond. He will then swear his oath and I believe this would open up a perpendicularity. In the past whenever a radiant swears an oath we now the spiritual realm temporarily connects there infusing the radiants gems well I think it also opens to the Cognitive realm so when a radiant swears an oath there it opens up one large enough for them to cross back to the physical. They will then use this temporary thing to get back where they could spanreed for a windrunner. That is my long theory on how Shallan and Adolin will get back to the physical realm I am sure it is wrong. 1

Since when do perpendicularities open when radiants swear ideals. The only case we have of that is Dalinar, and he just happened to use a new ability of his right when he gained the ability. 1
Theoryspren Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) In the physical realm the spiritual realm connects just enough to reinfuse gems nearby the radiant that just swore the oath. In the physical realm the hole isn’t big enough to allow you to travel to another realm. But maybe in the cognitive realm it is big enough for them to slip back into the physical realm. What exactly is their going back in a hurry supposed to accomplish? Dalinar wants to use none of their group as a champion or a backup. In fact he wants his son and heir to be as far away from a battle he does not expect to survive as possible. Shadesmar is about far enough. And fate and Dalinar have just kicked Adolin in the nether parts. His original mission has become moot. There is no point in recruiting Honorspren to a war that will have been ended before they arrive. Still Adolin and Dalinar are competent officers. They will try to get something out of that mission. Adolin has uncovered extremely important stuff about the Recreance. and aliens and strange new organizations. You don't waste all that calling him home for no good reason just to see his dad fight and possibly lose.
GameOfGroans Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 What I'm curious about is why in WoK both Jasnah and Shallan are able to enter Shadesmar spontaneously, and exit it just by finding a bead that represents something solid in the physical realm but suddenly in the following books neither can do it again
Theoryspren Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 In WoK they never fully went into Shadesmar they only looked into it. While in the later books they are always going fully into it. 1
Karger he/him Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 They could go to the azish oathgate and use that now that they have the sibling. It really is not that far. Dalinar could fly in and open his perpendicularity. They could take boats back. Anyway I am pretty sure lasting integrity will come under assault by Ishar early in book five.
Elegy he/him Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I was initially joking when I said it on here a few days ago ... but I've started to really want them to ride to the Azish Oathgate via starspren. I want that cheesy sight and the fan art it would spawn!
