"Ok then. Don't use magic. Just conjure up some big machine that can do it for us. If you can't do that, just invent some weird new element and says that it powers the machine and that's what makes it work.

"What's wrong now? Technically it's not magic. It's using water to limit a fire."

Jinn snorted. "Did you seriously think that using science to limit magic was any different than using magic to limit magic? Or... let me rephrase that. Did you think that science in general was at all different than magic in any way?"

Hey... wait a minute! Why are you deciding the lore? This is MY rp!

"Uh... yeah. That's a given, since we didn't go back to monkeys when you took away all magic. There has to be some distinction."

HAHA, YOU FOOL! YOU SHOULD'VE CHECKED MY TRACK RECORD FOR SIREN'S CALL BEFORE LETTING ME JOIN THIS RP!!!

"Not really. The only distinction is that some magic can be wielded, and some magic cannot."

No can do! You've handed me the gauntlet, and I'm gonna use it.

"How do you think entire kingdoms lived off of individual workers slicing wheat with sharp sticks? Magic. Why do you think the Chinese needed to invent gunpowder? Magic. Why did the Egyptians build the pyramids? Beacons of magic. Why did the ancient workers build Stonehenge? Gateways to the other dimensions." He began tapping off a list on his fingers. "The Myan shrines: magic. Hanging gardens of Babylon: magic. And I doubt the Frenchies knew this at the time, but their Eiffel tower is the perfect shape and size to channel divine magic down frmo the heavens!"

Jinn crossed his harms. "And as for how I know all that... I told you that I was a fast reader. I discovered the internet one day, and I had read everything it could possibly tell me by the end of the next."

Fine then! You're either going to give be back that gauntlet, or I'm going to hack it off!

"Yeah, you're full of it. First of all, the Eiffel Tower was built long after magic was taken away and no one thought it was real anymore either. Secondly, 'Wieldable' vs "Unwieldable' is a dumb distinction since there were plenty of people who wielded magic and certain types of magic that went away that everyone could wield. Third, there's no way you've read the internet in that time period since you and the internet haven't coexisted for that long, so stop lying to me. Fourth, kingdoms lived off sharp sticks and farmers because there weren't many people back then, and most people farmed, and there was this thing, called surplus, that literally allowed civilization to happen. And finally, a question: how deeply can you explain magic using the laws of physics?"

"I am full of nothing. I never said that the Eiffel Tower was built for magic; I just said it's the right shape. Wieldable and unwieldable is a good distinction because some magic can be used and others can't. I can read everything I need to read, and you could too if you could multiply yourself. As for the kingdom thing..." Jinn shook his head. "That's just something that historians came up with to explain things. Agricultural magic? The thing back in the olden days. But to answer your question: very deeply. Would you like to start with quantum physics, or go from galactic orbits and work your way down?"

"Why don't we discuss how science works later." She suggested. "Preferably in a place where I have my laptop, and can take notes."

I am officially declaring that your genie is canonically deluding himself regarding this.

Spoiler

Is this a joke? I'm not quite sure yet.

Also, please remember this is supposed to be accurate to actual myths and legends.

"Wha- oh, whatever. I'm pretty sure there would of been some evidence of agriculture magic when digging up artifacts and writings, unless you deleted all evidence of magic as well, which I severely doubt. Anyway, let's head back home. Lilliana, want to come?"

I'm making running lore in accordance to what I know about various cultures. I know just about all there is to know about Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse cultures (thanks, Rick Riordan), and I've recently been learning about Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Mongolian cultures. I don't know much about folks like the Myans or Celts or anything, so I'll keep my enforced worldbuilding away from them.

Also: yes, this is your RP, but if you make all the lore, then we're gonna be bored to death. Granted, everyone's gonna be bored if make up all the lore, too. I guess we could keep a running PM to spell out the do's and don't's of loremongering if you want.

I know quite a bit about mythology. I have about 5 books on mythology, one of them is a dictionary of mythology, so that could help. I'd like to join the PM.

"Uh, sure?"

The odd group travels back across the couple blocks back to Grace's apartment. As they enter back into the apartment, Grace flops onto the couch. "Hehe. Two girls, a genie, a phoenix, and a fairy walk into an apartment. Sounds like some dad joke."

Daisy was the fairy... right?

Lilliana pulled out her copy of The Way of Kings, sat down on a chair, and started reading.
