He pulled out an object from the bag, which upon closer examination proved to be a kind of... circular cake, of some type?

"You have that courage, Avren," he continued, "even if you don't think you do."

Sensing that the conversation was over, Cara said, "bye" and left. 

Wonder what Ara's up to? Cara thought. 

Cara wandered around for a bit, searching for Ara while reflecting on her conversation with The Shadow.

He didn't seem to like me.

Talnic settled back against the wall, letting out a small breath as Cara left. Stifling a yawn, he tugged his hat down a little further over his eyes so that everyone else would know that he wasn't up for having a conversation. He pushed his hands into his pockets, and watched the room through half-closed eyes.

I need to find somewhere to sleep, Talnic thought, resisting the urge to yawn again. He cast a quick glance out of the window, noting the sun's position. Only a little of it still peeked over the horizon. A slight shimmer in the air caught his eye as he turned away, but he dismissed it as the sunlight reflecting against the glass of the window.

"I'm great! Can I see you do your experiments? It sounds cool!" Cara replied, glad that someone was happy to see her. She pointedly did not address Gal yet. Just in case he was still mad at her.

Still, why was Xeus forming a new group? Why not just tell the Shadow? And he had avoided Avren's question about the realms, too. 

Unsure of what to say, he looked to the side. Sunlight streamed through one of the library windows, and for a moment, it seemed like something was glinting in the sky far away.
