Valzwyn rushed forwards, drawing on three parts red and one part yellow and fuel her fist with some solid strength, and beaned that man hard.

Looked like a solid punch. Minuet was impressed. She walked up to the man and grabbed his arm.

"Hey--hey!" The man growled, clutching his nose. "What in the world was that?"

"My friend punched you. Had enough?"

"Hey boys!" He shouted suddenly. "These kids think this stuff belongs to them!"

Minuet rolled her eyes and punched the guy again.

A bunch of guys holding large metal sticks and wooden clubs turned the bend.

Minuet would have laughed. They thought that could stop her? Although - perhaps she should downplay her skills.

Following them were several guys with large swords and glowing staffs.

Hmm... those might pose a problem if they could hit her. Minuet looked over at Valzwyn and dropped the man. "You ready to fight?"

Minuet held back for a moment, ascertaining which men the others were attacking, then charged into the fray.

A quote from the book about a person with this same Grace: "In time her control improved, and she began to practice with Randa's soldiers--eight or ten at a time, and in full suits of armor. Her practices were a spectacle: grown men grunting and clattering around clumsily, an unarmed child whirling and diving among them, knocking them down with a knee or a hand that they didn't see coming until they were already on the floor."

"Let's do it," said Orpheus, and charged the men with swords, brandishing his knife. His eyes glowed violet.

Valzwyn hastily pulled out her spellbook and flipped to a random page, scouring it for some kind of combative magic. She selected one, drawing upon the proper amounts of her Fumes, and summoned a massive fireball to explode amidst their ranks.

From all three of them, men were tossed about like ragdolls, completely outmatched by the tiny group.

"I... wow..."  Nyxim said, still a tad confused, but decided it was best not to try this man's patience.  "Okay then," She turned to Abalard, ready to mount, but he danced to the side. Infuriating horse, she thought, glaring at him when yet again he resisted being mounted.  They had a stare-off for a few seconds before Abalard stepped forward and nudged her towards the strange man again.  Nyx sighed, connecting the pieces together.  She turned towards the strange, maybe even a tad bit not-right-in-the-head man.

"My name's Nyxim, I go by Nyx."  She said proffering her hand whilst giving Abalard a look as if to say, There, happy now?

Nyxim furrowed her brow when, instead of taking her proffered hand, the dude she was talking to took off up a hill.  By now she had enough interest in this company by now to see what was going on.  Strangely, Nyx wasn't suprised by the massiv tower sitting in the middle of nowhere, she's had expirience with arcitecture in strange places in the past.  She saw that there was fighting on the side of the hill, and deciding that she wanted nothing to do with that, she approached and entered the tower.

Ara arrived at the bottom of the hill too late to stop the violence. She watched in horror as the graceling tore through the fray like a hurricane. Fire burst outward from the elf, throwing men into the air.

“No, stop fighting.” Ara’s voice was small and insignificant in the fray. She broke down. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. Falling to the ground, she just stared. She couldn’t accept it. No. The world couldn’t be this dark, this cruel. It couldn’t.

"I am Xeus, a traveler," he said, "I was part of a different quest originally to kill a certain Wondersoul, but have abandoned it."

Avren turned to look as shouts erupted from the base of the hill, his fears momentarily forgotten. It was a whirlwind of fighting, and he could see Val, Minuet and Orpheus right in the middle of it all.

“I’m sorry, I... should go,” he said to Xeus, before dashing down the hill. Halfway down, he began to slow. What could he even do? He couldn’t fight like that, and — Ara

He ran the rest of the way down to her, fighting to ignore his growing nausea at the rising death count. That was a problem for later.

As he reached her, he hesitated. How was he supposed to help? He’d spent most of his recent life avoiding people, not comforting them. Ara stared straight ahead at the fighting, though her eyes seemed distant.

“Um, Ara?” He asked, feeling foolish. Why couldn’t he do anything to help? “Are you okay?”

Minuet was careful not to kill anyone. That was something she'd never do if she had a choice. But as she whirled and spun between the men, she was careful to knock them out. It was their own fault, after all. Orpheus, Valzwyn, and she had told them.

Nothing was fine. She had thought she could just do the right thing at every turn. Help where she was needed. And everything would work out. That everything would be fine. That everyone was good, deep down. Maybe they still were. This had been the elf’s home. They were just protecting it. You could do a bad thing for a good reason, right? It was a thin thread, but Ara clasped onto it.

Avren’s voice pierced through Ara’s mind. He wanted to help her. He wanted to. She could hear it in his voice.
But Ara couldn’t let that happen. She was the one who helped people. She wouldn’t be a burden to these people like she had been to Shalli and Hayl.
Ara pushed the doubt, the fear, the worry to the back of her mind, curling it into a seething knot. It wasn’t enough, but it let her stand, putting on a perfectly neutral face for Avren. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Let’s go make sure everyone is all right.”

Cara watched the fighting in shock. Everything happened so fast. When the fighting started, Felicity had been so spooked that Cara could barely keep her from running off. She stroked Felicity calming her, careful to not get caught in the fighting. Surveying the area, Cara spotted Ara and someone else. She trotted towards them.

Better to keep close to friends, she thought.

"You guys all right?"
