War veterans have trauma for life after going through less than what the Era 1 cast went through. Some of them died and definitively didn't get to fully experience what they worked for. And I say its unrealistic because the others wouldnt just shrug emoji and be like cool! green grass! I'm happy now! It would be traumatic experiences and sad memories they'd have to live with, and yes there are positives but it's also a ton of hard work and while you're doing all that hard work the actual experiences are passing you by. I don't think we're going to agree but I appreciate the discussion. It's always good to get another point of view so thanks for responding to my post! :D

I know people who went through things like that. They’re quite happy now, with multiple generations of descendants. Well, they were before NYC decided to recreate the ghettos. But still happier than they were during the Holocaust and the fruits of their labor? Their children and grandchildren got to grow up free.

Or as my great-grandmother would say, looking at three generations of her descendants, “Hitler didn’t win.” When someone has tried to kill you, living and thriving is the greatest triumph and the sweetest fruit.

Spook, Beldre, Ham, Mardra, Breeze and Alriane got to raise their families in peace. They built a better society than they came from. Those were their triumphs and their children and grandchildren their fruits. A life without fear where their descendants could THRIVE.

And Marsh and Saze get to watch as the world they fought for thrives. And Kell? Well, I’ve no doubt he’s smiling.

And as @Kingsdaughter613covered both here and on the other thread, some war vets have gone through far worse and have come out just fine and are fully able to enjoy life.

And some of them lived and definitely get to experience what they worked for. But if I had God come down and tell me, "yeah the people who sacrificed their lives for this new life are actually pretty happy and enjoying their afterlife right now," then I think that would cut down on some of the sadness. Would they be missed? Absolutely! That's the bitterness. But there's the sweet satisfaction that their deaths did mean something, that you're alive in the world you fought so hard to make, and that they are happy on the other side (as confirmed by your old friend God). That's the sweetness. This isn't sad, this is bittersweet.

still don't know where you're getting this from, but you do you.

I too appreciate the discussion, and anytime you need a pick-me-up about Mistborn or Era 2, I'm here.

What's funny is that you're currently trashing me on Reddit lol, I'm gonna take a break for a while man it seems like some people don't know how to just enjoy fictional worlds and have fun with it and have differing opinions. See ya

It's not a differing opinion. It's both willful ignorance and misuse of an idea. Which is what I was trying to tell you. But whatever. It'd be going off-topic here. DM me on either platform if you want to pick up either convo.
