The knife meets no resistance as it plunges into the creature's blue eye, splattering azure substance. It roars its displeasure, rearing its head back in apparent agony.

"I'll have you know that this is the most disgusting thing I have ever done!" Ayia yelled. She yanked out the knife, though, and stabbed at the other eye.

The knife hits its mark again, eliciting another roar of agony from the creature. It thrashes around, stumbling into walls and shaking its head as if trying to clear its vision.

"You've blinded it," called Ashley. "You should be able to sneak past it, now."

“No killing? Fine. Let’s go, guys!”

The monster lets out a roar of agony as it realizes that its sight has been taken from it - then, all of a sudden, falls quiet. Its ears twitch, trying to pick up on the soft footsteps of the people still inside the lab.

Ayia hurls a metal coin across the room, letting it clatter loudly against the opposite wall.

Ayia grabs Andante's arm, pulling him along as she runs out of the laboratory.

"Thanks," puffs Andante.

The monster takes a moment to register and respond to Andante and Ayia's dash to the door - by the time he moves to snap at them, it is too late. They have escaped.

"What? Do you mean that literally or figuratively?"

"Literally."

Ayia cast her Line through the doorway, then skated along it at top speeds, Andante in tow.

Oh, really? I didn't notice. She's a she, I thought I made that clear. My bad, I must have missed the s a couple of times.

Okay, then.

Andante grabbed onto Ayia and held on as tightly as she could.

Ayia took them high into the air with the Line, dropping off at the apex and retracting the Line back into her sleeve. She stabalized the metal heels of her boots, essentially hovering in midair.

Feel free to scream.

"Gak!" Rakushta says as he dashes after Ayia and Andante, who were leaving without him. Unfortunately, the blind beast has already blocked the path again. He curses very, very quietly.

He pulls some cracklers out of his backpack very slowly and carefully. He lights them and then throws them over to the opposite side of the room, hopefully distracting it long enough to get by.

I've looked back and I haven't dropped the s in the past 10 pages, if I ever did.

Andante squeaked and held on tighter. "Can we go back down?" she asked, her voice trembling.
