"Where under the couch? Here, you can go first." Daolan scoots over.

"The couch isn't very big... the middle?" Philico loosened the hordelings in his foot and let one out. He felt the buzzes from it as it walked under the couch and then... disappeared. He could feel it no more. Storms, he thought. I need to be more careful with those.

"Yep, just under there." He pushed on the side of the couch, moving it enough to reveal a portal implanted in the floor, swirling a tan topaz. A few autumn leaves blew out of it into the living room. "Here I go!" He walked over and hopped in, all at once.

They all come out into a red-and-yellow aspen wood, ground layered with crunchy leaves and trees holding onto the last of their foliage. All around are the chirps of crickets, and a constant drone of turkey gobbles.

Wild turkeys are everywhere. On the ground, in the trees, flying about. You couldn't swing a cat without killing at least three of them.

"Here we are!" Fadran said.

This time, Philico was prepared for the landing. He stuck his feet out, holding the hordelings together so he didn't destroy his perfectly formed legs in the impact.

It wasn't needed. Philico was dispatched right above a huge leaf pile, tall and colorful, which provided a soft landing. The reds and golds of the leaves made a wondrous sight. Once again, he was in a woodland, but it wasn't anything like the Threnody forests. Quite the opposite, in fact. Birds sung in the trees, which were narrow and bare, a lovely shade of brown. The setting sun painted the sky with even more reds and oranges, flooding the forest with light as it shone through the tree branches. Philico climbed out of the leaf pile, breathing in the landscape. The air was warm, and smelled faintly of apple pie.

Behind him, Daolan crashed into the pile, throwing leaves up into the air. "I hope Fadran remembers the tents." Philico remarks. "Though I have to admit, sleeping out here wouldn't be so bad."

"Wow. That is a lot of turkeys!"

"Yep. Unfortunately, we aren't going to be using of them."

"Rephrase that, please. Are you saying that we're not using those?"

"We won't be catching and eating one of these turkeys. We need to catch the Elder Breed."

"The... Elder Breed? Is there a reason one of these won't do? There's certainly enough of them that they likely won't miss any we take."

"There is no reason other than that only the greatest of hunters can catch an Elder Breed Wild Turkey, and we are nothing if not the greatest hunters ever!"

"So we could just take one or two of these, but we're not going to because we want to make it harder if not impossible for us? Okay, sounds good!"

Philico nodded in agreement. "Tell the one I leave behind a description. I will locate this Elder Breed."

He dissolved entirely, sending out his horde every which way, North, South, East, West, and everywhere in between. Philico left one hordeling behind, which scuttled over to Fadran awaiting instructions.

"The Elder Breed look the same, except they have a streak of golden feathers."

“Woah. This place is creepy.”

"Creepy? Where did you grow up?"

"Oh. Really? Because it seems to me that that place would seem a whole lot creepier than here."

"Nah. You get used to it. Even though we were tortured there. Hehe."

"That sounds even more creepy, but okay. I can see how this might be outside the norm for you."
