Are all your characters vegetarian?

Noche wouldn't eat a bird, Hiiri will but won't go hunting for it, Aria will eat anything but she's asleep, Allegra's too proper, and Herate and Daolan don't like turkey. I is the only one who might go hunting for a turkey, but she doesn't want to go without Aria since she doesn't know anyone else.

Philico stood on the porch, removing all the spooky decorations off the railings and door. The others were all sick from candy, and because Philico didn't eat any- the stuff is useless to him- he was the only one cleaning up the heavy-duty stuff. But he didn't mind. He needed something to do.

The streetlamps were bright when T and Ember finally arrived back at the house just after midnight. Neither was cold, despite the chill air. Ember had drawn heat towards them, magic discrete enough for anywhere. Their hands were clasped together, and they murmured quietly to each other every once in a while. Energy flowed freely between them, and they shared their tiredness. Not wanting to bother anyone, T tried the door. She opened it slowly. They walked slowly upstairs, filled with the quiet happiness that comes from a satisfying day with friends.

Next morning, T woke up early, as always. She grabbed a quick nourishing breakfast then headed outside. "Want some help, Philico?" She started pulling down the vines.

To Daolan, Fadran says, "Hey Dao, you know what we need? A guys' night out."

"That sounds like it would be great, Fad." Daolan smiled and winked at Fadran.

“Ooookay. What do you want to do?”

"Could we camp out in the backyard? The girls can have the house."

“In November?” Fadran asked, incredulous. “Let’s do it.”

Philico looked around the house. "If you don't mind, I'll be joining you. It'll probably be safer out there."

Accidentally in present tense. Ew.

My cousins camped outside through Christmas Eve last year.

"Sure! Maybe we could all go camping in the woods while we go turkey-hunting?"

@Condensation

"I'd prefer the backyard to turkey-hunting, but I guess I could come. Knowing you guys, we'll probably end up with one from the store anyway." Daolan smiled, letting them know that this was a joke.

"Well, we're gonna teleport to another planet, if you want to come."

What's wrong with present tense?

Nothing, other than the fact that past tense is superior :P

This made Philico wonder where the planet they were currently on was. Or what it was. "Sure. Where to? Probably somewhere warm." After further consideration, he added "Not Roshar, either."

"Nope! It's very cold there. Especially in the fall. I haven't named it, but the dominant species is Wild Turkey."

"Okay." Daolan walked over and hugged Herate, then made eye contact with Noche. He winked and turned back to Fadran. "Ready whenever you are!"

"Alright! The portal is underneath that couch."

"Is there a reason it's under the couch?" Daolan walks over to the couch.

"None."

"All right." Daolan crouches to look under the couch, then bites his lip. "Okay, here goes." He begins to squeeze himself under the couch, completely neglecting the possibility of moving or lifting the couch.
