Have y'all passed the town yet?

Vivace found a store of firewood, lit a couple of places, then dropped the torch next to it. She ran around the building, waited for a count of ten, then called "Oh, no! Someone dropped their torch! The town's catching on fire!" She circled the mob, staying in cover, until she was at the perfect place to grab Aerith once the mob was sufficiently distracted.

It took them all a solid ten minutes before noticing the smoke. A few ran off, but the rest seemed rather bent on lynching him.

Set some actual buildings on fire, darn it! He said using only blinks.

Hmm, impressive.

Although Vivace had hoped the fire would spread to some buildings, she supposed even nature failed sometimes. She grabbed another torch, ran to around the same area, and lit some thatch roofs on fire. She ran back to her previous vantage point. 

"LOOK, THE ROOF'S ON FIRE!!!!!" She yelled.

One by one, the townsfolk fell quiet and looked over at the smoke.

"Look!" One of them shouted. "The roof's on fire!"

[Condensation she/her]

The fire began to spread, leaping from house to house. 

[Channelknight Fadran]

"HE SET MY HOUSE ON FIRE!"

Aerith dropped his head in exasperation.

[Vapor she/her]

Val heard shouts coming from the town and tried to steady her breathing. There was no fire here. She would be fine. At least I think I will… she thought. Val put her head down and ran faster.

[Condensation she/her]

Vivace sighed. These villagers were quite daft. In fact... maybe she should tell them that. Yeah! 

Vivace leapt to her feet. "HEY, YOU DAFT VILLAGERS! IT WASN'T HIM - IT WAS ME! AND I'M ABOUT TO ESCAPE THROUGH THE SECRET PORTAL I MADE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE TOWN!" Beginning to run away but keeping aware of Aerith, she thought, It sure would be nice if we had an illusioner with us.

Some of them ran after Vivace, but several others saw through this clever guise. They started poking at Aerith with their pitchforks.

[Condensation she/her]

Gah. There's really no option other than running in there, is there. Vivace looped around and ran toward Aerith. You know what might help? A little bit of crystal - munching, Chorale. 

There was no answer, only a vague icky feeling. 

C'mon. For Aerith?

Chorale seemed to sigh, but popped a crystal in their mouth and created a hamster ball around Aerith.
