I mean, I've sat down and read 155 pages of the block of text that is The Fellowship of the Thing followed by 68 pages of Siren's Call. 58 pages is nothing. I'll get to it eventually.

It had more when I joined. Not Siren's Call, but I also read TLT. It took me forever. Yeah, I think you'll enjoy reading it!

"So... what exactly are you?"

"I know many people who can come up with some nasty names for my job, but I prefer "Informer," it cuts straight to the point without any of the nasty baggage someone would want to tag onto it. What about you, what are you? I guess more importantly, how do you define yourself?"

"I don't know yet. I used to be a lone - almost mercenary, I suppose - but I've certainly changed. I guess I need to figure it out."

"Being lost is no fun, I guess that you can use this unique . . . opportunity to take some time to mull about it. Taking some time to sit down and think is more important than most give it credit for. Guidance is also nice, I mean, I don't know where I'd be without the right guidance. Well, I can guess, and I don't like where those guesses go."

"Oh, so now you're my therapist?" Chorale snorted, then slid slightly down the cell door. "Well, guess now is the best time, unless you're planning to let me out or tell me something I need to know."

"That's probably true. Maybe it is time to get out of the business. Go live with my mother and father again. Of course, I can't do any of that while I'm in here. It might be time for me to get out."

Jane nodded.

"It might be a good idea to get out while things are calm, settle down somewhere and live out the rest of your life. But I guess you would have to be fine with people changing the world around you."

"No one that didn't abandon me first." Chorale lost herself in thought momentarily, flashes of betrayals passing through her mind.

"So you'd rather not break the tradition that others have set for you. Why strike out when you can conform?"

"I don't trust many people anymore. It's not conforming, it's reacting in the best way I know to betrayal."

Editing in something for Concerto, uno momento.

Fish! Hey! You could get involved with the story again here, or you could just post something in a quote box to get rid of my worries!

Concerto set down the books he had been looking through as he heard footsteps outside his - no, Kade's - office. He hadn't found anything useful, but it was time to go back and get out of here. Hopefully with his sister, annoying as she could be. He looked through the door's crack, but none of his senses picked up anything untoward, so he slipped out.

"I know a guy who was probably crazy, but he'd say something wise every so often. Among the many things that he said to me, one of his high points was a question; would you rather act, or react? Which sounds stupid when you say it, but the idea behind it is pretty alright. Will you control your own life by acting, or will you allow others to control you by reacting to what they do? He then followed this up by trying to convince me that all of humanity is addicted to water, so keep that in mind."

"Makes sense. Not much I can do to act while stuck in this cage, though." I can probably get out of here, but if she helps me out it'll go faster. Then I can go find Concerto and get out of here. Maybe after I cause a bit more chaos.

"Funny thing about betrayals if you follow this logic. You could take it two ways, be the one who takes the action to trust, or be the one who acts on the betrayal first. You don't like Kade, if you escaped, would you work to take him down?"

You sly human, you.

Oh hush, I haven't decided anything yet; besides, she might make our job easier.

Just evidence for why we should always do what I say.

I couldn't list the reasons why that in and of itself is a bad idea if I had a week, so hush.

"Depends on the situation once I got out. Eventually, yes. I don't think I'd have a choice, he seems to have it in for me.

Vulles smiled.

"Of course, a devoted amal like me would never even consider doing anything that could lead to someone trying to bring harm to our glorious leader. Perish the very thought. Although, it would be fairly unfortunate if the prison guard left the key behind in his hurry, and then the skilled prisoner managed to find a way to get it unbeknownst to the temporary substitute. Then, Mother Forbid, if the skilled prisoner managed to overpower the substitute guard somehow, she would be free to roam around the compound."

Vulles stood up from her spot before making her way towards the cell door.

"Yes, that's rather fortunate for me, since I don't need to worry about that, especially since I am always truthful. I believe that it is always fun to consider possible events, even when it may seem impossible."
