Just now, Ookla the Grammatical said:

"Because... it'll hurt?" Harmony said, well aware of how childish that sounded. "And it doesn't need it."

"Very well. I suppose it can wait. Once we get into town and find that the wound's been badly infected, then we can amputate your arm." Leonas nods. "And then we can sanitize that."

"It's not like it'll take that long to get into town. And if there's a problem, I'm sure I'll see reason eventually."

"It's not a problem! If it were, I'd have run into it long ago!"

"You did. It's called snapping your arm in half. Please just let me help you, Harmony."

"It wasn't my arm, it was my wrist. And the problem I was talking about is infection, which I haven't considered until now and still ended up fine. I honestly think I'll be fine."

Leonas sighed. "I can't make you do anything. However, if you have any respect for my knowledge at all, please consider letting me help you."

"I do have respect for your knowledge, it's certainly more impressive than mine. However, I don't think..." she paused.

"Go on. You don't think what?"

"I don't think your knowledge is... as applicable in this case. Sure, maybe if I were in the city where disease is in the air and corrupts everything then I'd need to clean it, but out here? The air is clean and my food is safely grown. I've also gained some resistance to diseases."

"That doesn't mean you can neglect basic self-care."

"It's not - okay, it is sort of basic. But rubbing alcohol? I use water, occasionally a bit of soap if I have some."

"Rubbing alcohol is significantly more effective, and I kind of doubt that you'd like me to scrub that wound of yours."

"No, no thank you. That would be much more painful. If it really needs washing, we can use clean water. Rubbing alcohol is a no, though."

"How about we take a look at the wound and make a judgement then?"

Harmony ran her hand through her hair. "All right, I guess."

"Right. Go ahead and take the bandage off."

Harmony unwrapped the bandage, hiding her slight wince. The cut might have been a little swollen, and it might have been a little red, but it wasn't noticeable enough to tell if it was.

"That is really swollen and really red. You don't have to be a doctor to notice it. We're disinfecting it."

"Not with rubbing alcohol... It's barely swollen and only a little red!"

"Huh. I doubt it, unless you're talking about the blood. In which case, yeah."

Harmony held her breath for a bit and then let it out in a burst. "Okay, although I'd prefer with water."
