I have a brass ring that once belonged to my great-grandfather. I wear it every day on my left middle finger.

You are now in a duel with a fictional character of your choice. You may also choose one fighting style (a martial art, a form of sword fighting, etc.) to fight the duel with. Who and how do you fight and why?

I would like to dogfight Moash. I'm 100% certain that I can fly a plane better than he can, plus if I shoot him down, he dies, and we all win!

If you could automatically gain the knowledge required for any career, what would it be?

HEMA (historical European martial arts) instructor. Swords are awesome and so are combat sports.

If you could have dinner with five dead people, who would they be? That's poor phrasing; they're no longer dead for the duration of the meal.

This is such a good question and I can’t think of an answer! Okay so I definitely know one person: Dame Agatha Christie it’d be awesome to pick apart the brain of objectivity the best mystery writer ever and the person who was my favourite author for about five years. I cannot think of anyone else who isn’t a fictional character though.

If you could go back and tell your 11 yo self one thing what would it be?

Study harder you little rust. Also maybe take a break from reading once in a while, or in the future you will need coke-bottle glasses.

If you had the time and money, where would you like to go travel and why?

Some island that I would buy and I would fly out as many Sharders as I could (they would have the time too) and we'd all have a mega awesome time! :D

If you could forget the ending of one book just so you could experience it again what book would you choose?

The Lord of the Rings. Even though I have the almost-to-tears reaction every time I finish it, experiencing that for the first time again would be amazing.

What is something you regret not saying to someone?

Alas, I am not. I have found the most wonderful human being to spend my time with, and I love her very much. I used to be a proud single pringle, but now I much prefer being with my partner :D.

How many times have you attempted to build something that moves on its own, and succeeded? (E.g., bottle rocket, rubber band car, etc)

I was about to knock out an impressive number until I read the sneaky „and succeeded“ in the end. Of the many attempts to my name, only a sorry few succeeded. All the fonder are the memories of one particular occasion on which I got to assist a friend to cook up fireworks. Good stuff. Very much moved on its own.

Across all the stories you witnessed, what was your favorite plot twist?

My autocorrect put loved instead of moved. Cute but confusing.

The big one that stands out is the twist in the original Xenoblade Chronicles. But I don't know if that's my favorite...

How do you come up with questions for this thread?

Dude. I own a gambeson (padded medieval armor), leather sword gloves, and a pair of leather riding boots that make up my Renn fair entourage. I would wear a longsword along with, but I'm not sure how legal that would be where I live.

What is your opinion of Amazon's The Wheel of Time adaptation?

I haven't watched it (yet.) Moraine's outfit looks gorgeous. I hope it gets more people into WOT, but I wonder if the books might feel outdated for modern readers.

What's your favourite adaptation of a book you love?

I don't know very many works I've read that've been adapted, but Harry Potter did a pretty good job.

What's your opinion on AI assisted art?

Posted

I... don't have one tbh. I'm not even sure what you mean by AI assisted. If you mean those AI generated images like Midjourney or whatever, then I wouldn't really call that art because like... you just need to input some key words. Hardly requires artistic skill. More like googling skill. But if there's some other form of AI assisted art I'm unfamiliar with... then idk.

How fo you keep yourself focused on a task?

I make it a game! And honestly? When things are extra dire, I tend to slacken the reins and allow my mind to wander for a bit. Turns out my motivation is a timid thing shining the brightest when pressure is relieved!

Do you believe in extraterrestrial intelligence?

Yeah I think I do. Within the observable universe, there are about 800,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars, so odds are, other forms of intelligent life have developed somewhere.

Do you have a preferred method of cooking steak?

No, I don't like steak lol

Do you believe self-destruction is inevitible, and we won't be able to find lifeforms anyway because we would have gone extinct before then?

That is actually one of the prevailing theories: that our species was born to close to the beginning of time to see other alien civilizations. Personally I think something like the dark forest theory is more plausible. (No I don't have a life, why do you ask?)

What is your opinion on mornings?

In a way, yes. I choose my clothes with purpose, I brush my hair, and all that jazz. But, I don’t ever wear makeup at all and the most complicated hairstyle I’ve really ever worn to school is two French braids. I guess I expect my natural beauty to make up for what effort I don’t put in.

Have you ever signed up for something and not realized what exactly you were getting into?
