Not everything, but I do know a lot about TV shows I've never watched thanks to TV Tropes.

What's your favourite kind of cake?

Funny story...

I'm a rambler. You can see that from my posts. My brother introduced me to Sanderson's books, and I immediately started talking to him about them. A lot. He offered me to go ramble on the Shard, and when Quarantine started here I was bored enough to actually do that. And I think that I didn't write here anything that I tried talking to him about, but there are a few things that I'd have told him if I couldn't write them here. So I guess it worked out.

Did you read Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett? If so, do you realize what I thought when I first saw the post above me?

Posted

Honestly? I was very confused. I read Mistborn for the first time when I was 12, and it took me a couple hundred pages to even understand what was going on with the magic system and stuff. I started understanding things like halfway through the Final Empire, and then I started loving the rest of the cosmere books. But getting used to reading epic fantasy instead of middle grade was definitely confusing at first.

What's your favorite book that you had to read because of school/assigned reading? My favorite school book was All Quiet on the Western Front

OOO uhhhh what was it called uhhh

OH. It was called Under The Blood Red Sun. It was about some Japanese-American people living on Hawaii before and after Pearl Harbor and following their story. It was actually a really good book.

How would you tell your crush you like him/her/them?

Posted

Bear in mind this is totally theoretical—I've never had a crush and I don't want one—but I would just tell them straight up that I liked them, that it's okay if they don't like me back, but I thought they should know. It might make things a bit awkward if we were already friends, but not telling them would make it even worse.

And then if they liked me back I would use this card

because I've always wanted to.

What's your favourite piece of geeky merchandise?

Any shirt with a DND joke.

(Also I'm totally using that card bro thanks for the idea lmao)

Do you ever just listen to music and do some weird stuff in video games to the music?

I'm answering this one because it's funny - when I told my crush, I quite literally, no words added or subtracted, said 'it's you, buddy'.  To be fair, I panicked a little, and I could have said something much worse, I'm sure, but still.  Buddy.  I can look back and laugh at it, but by golly.

No, because I don't play video games.  I'm weird that way.  However, if I'm listening to music while cleaning or walking, or working, I'll kinda bob back and forth, or sway.

If you could speak any language that isn't your mother tongue, what would it be, and why?

Posted

Well, technically I already can. Though maybe I should go for a language I don't know, so... Hmm...

I can think of a handful. I tried to learn Greek and Welsh once. Latin could be interesting. I'd like to learn to read Chinese, and French is a language I probably should know - it's my grandparents native language, and they speak it all the time with my father. Spanish might be a good idea too, and perhaps Esperanto. It appears that I have a list, and yet, instead of learning them I write posts here. Bother that.

That Is an interesting question, which I'd kind of like to answer, with one problem: I'm not sure that I ever had a crush. You see, I was at a boys-only school for all 12 years of my formal education, and then two more in other male-only systems. In short, my interaction with girls was limited to mostly family. As an avid book reader that gets annoyed at characters for acting stupidly quite often, I'd have liked to think that I'd go for a logical approach and just do it. Knowing myself, though, I'd be too embarrassed to actually do it, so I might imagine what I'll say and never actually do it, or do it via writing. Might be a bit easier that way.

I may or may not have told a white lie in the previous paragraph. I may be overthinking things too. Sorry.

What subject would you like to learn during your teriary education?

you use big words i have to go to google >:(

ok so college!

meteorology.

are you still in contact with people who've left your school? (if applicable)

Posted

Not at school anymore, so technically I'm one of those people! Hardly, really. I'm really bad at keeping contact with people.

I admit that I have a peculiar tendency to use words from a somewhat different register than people usually do, but in this particular case I was merely consulting the translation function of Google.

Or, simply put, yeah, I sometimes use big words, sorry. Though on this case, it was more due to me wanting to cover all options - university etc. Should've just write college...

Who said that an object's beauty is measured by how well it serves its purpose?

I get the feeling it's a Hoid quote, but I don't really care, part of an object's purpose is to look good.

Latin is actually quite easy, if you speak another romance language or English. French is also easy, for the same reason. I study both(I'm actually better at Latin), and I've tried to study Polish too, as an English speaker, Latin and French were much easier.

Which mod, admin or head mod are you most afraid of.

Hm. Russian suonds intimidating and cool. French is fluid and cool. Spanish is very staccato-like and cool. Honestly, so many languages are unique and cool. So uh yeah.

Ever read the WEBTOON Space Boy?

I have only ever changed it a few times for Ookla season and mental health month but I always go back to this one.

You are offered to be taken care of for the rest of your life as long as you keep reading books steadily. On the one hand, you get an enjoyable job, on the other, you're turning a hobby into a responsibility. Do you accept?

Either that one race of blue things with scythe tails from the Animorphs series or some race where the people can sprout wings and/or turn into birds. Preferably the really cool ones like hawks or crows, but any bird would be awesome

If you could have one "superpower" or access to one fantasy magic system, which would it be?
