One Piece

Who here likes One Piece? It's personally one of my favorite series to ever exist, even beating out the cosmere itself in terms of just how good it is.

I like it, but it's usually second or third on my "current top series" lists (back in the day I ranked Naruto & Bleach higher. Now it's My Hero Academia, with Spy x Family riding the coattails). I started it around 2006-7, around the time that first, awful dub came out on Saturday mornings. I watched up until the Chopper arc, and have been reading it ever since. One of my good high school friends watched the anime exclusively and repeatedly. But it was nice to talk with him about it. 

Do you watch the series or read it?

I read the series. For One Piece specifically that is the only right way. Pacing in the anime is so bad. 

I'm gonna be honest, I've actually started liking the 4Kids dub. It is terrible, don't get me wrong, but it's also wonderful. There's nothing like taking a man's dying speech about when a person truly dies and having him thank his adopted son for giving him a wonderful life and turning it into "PEOPLE, I AM A DOCTOR!" Truly inspirational.

ONE THOUSAND CHAPTERS!! We've come so far! It does look like our journey is nearing its conclusion, especially after reading (a translation of) Oda's thank you letter on Twitter...but as Brandon says, Journey Before Destination.

Weird moment for this thread to be revived but I'll take the chance to say I'm in the Thriller Bark arc and holy crust did I underestimate this series.
