Ayia nodded. "Perfect... because we're here."

Loud clunks sounded as arrows glanced off the wheeled aluminum shoebox.

"Alright.  Tell me when."  Martin shakes his shoulders out and breathes steadily.  Probably arrows, from what has already happened.  "Quick sitrep - where's the line?  Just wound or are we 'killing them dead'?"

"Right now? Just try to find somewhere that's out of their line of fire. We need to see what we're up against before we can make any plans."

"Got it."  Martin looks at the hatch.  "I'm ready when you are.  Have someone behind me, but stay inside."  He pops the hatch and glances around.

"I've got your back, hon."

We're outside a big castle wall. Plenty of archer towers and dudes with crossbows.

"Please stop doing that," Martin mutters, then hauls himself out of the tank and gets around to the side the archers can't reach.  He looks around.  Archers, a castle wall.  A lot of towers.  Okay.  There's a trenchline of rocks and piled dirt that remind him of the old ballistae in Serbia.  Not the best cover, but better than nothing.  "There's a ditch with a wall about twelve meters ahead!"  He calls back to the tank.  "That's about it!"

That's forty feet, by the way.

I dunno if siege engines would cause trenches and ditches and such, but *jazz hands* this isn't reeeeeaaaaal!

"Get yourself out of the way! I'll come out in a second."

"Going now!"  This part is the worst.  He edges around to the left side of the tank and sprints towards the trench, hoping he doesn't turn an ankle.  He feels completely exposed and he very much dislikes it.

He skids to a halt, not really controlling his fall into the trench and scrambling to a crouch, putting his back to a decently sized piece of stone.

I'm just gonna assume he doesn't get shot...

"Alright!" Ayia said. "Once we get through the barrier, there's no telling how many baddies are going to be in there. We don't have any windows on this, so we have to be extremely careful when we come out. We need an order of deployment."

"I'd prefer to go out last."

Ayia sucked in a breath, then cast her Line through the hatch and shot out. Arrows flew about in a flurry, but none were aimed at her. They shot at Martin in the trench, and at the hatch where Ayia was technically supposed to be. She shot up into the air and took stock of the area: behind the wall there was a single large tower. A watchtower, perhaps?

She leaped off the end of her Line and fell through the air. An arrow grazed her face, and one managed to get tangled in her hair. She Stabalized one of her staffs before she hit the ground, then dropped into the trench beside Martin.

"What now, boss?"  Martin asks.  He has his pistol out.  Twelve bullets.  He'll need to get up close pretty quick.

"We need to get the kid out. Camelia. I can get over the wall easily enough, but you guys sure can't. Besides; she will not shut up about blowing something up until she finally gets to do it."

"Yeah.  I could cover her from here if she goes to the gate."  Now is not the time to have a discussion about Camille's slightly concerning destructive tendencies, he decides.

Camelia grinned, and climbed out of the box with her soulcaster in her hand and her bag over her shoulder.

"Or she'll get herself out," Ayia muttered. "Hurry up!"

"Blow it up!"

"Yay!" She prepared the bombs, and put earplugs in her ears. She got a fuse ready, and hid behind the box. "Ready when you are!" she said, an unlit match in her hand.

...Am I? Oops. That scene didn't happen then. Put the next thing in its place.

"So, where would you like me to place the explosives?" she said eagerly.
