Then if she looks again, intending to soulcast a cushion, she will see the distinct beads for the cushions and the couch? Or, she finds the single bead of the couch and (somehow) creates a bead for the cushion which is immediately soulcast? It looks to me like you are making the silent assumption that two observers would see the CR as the same. That is dubious.

That is dubious. It really isn't. We saw a group of people go there and see/interact with the same things. It'd look absolutely insane if every observer there saw it differently. There is a big ocean of beads, it is possible that the component beads are sort of deeper than the object beads. So, to Soulcast parts of an object you must sink deeper in to the ocean without loosing control. It breaks down because the number is literally unfathomable. Think about those Triangle Puzzles where there's one triangle with a bunch of little triangles inside and you have to count how many triangles there are. Then think of a complicated object. How many named parts are there of that object? Like a castle. There's wings and suites and bricks and buttresses and you could divide up in trillions upon trillions of ways. A small house would be billions of pieces. You'd have more beads than there are stars in the universe. It would be a mass several times larger than Roshar as a planet. Bigger than a star. It doesn't work. Edited June 8, 2020 by Aminar
theTruthshaper Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 You do realize that we have no idea how deep it is? Also, you are grossly UNDERESTIMATING the number of beads, I feel it is possible that Shadesmar is very, very deep.

It stops being functional to have soulcasting work the way we've talked about is trapped a thousand miles down and held in place by pressure and friction that as to exist for living beings to be able to function in Shadesmar.

It WOULD be weird and this probably not what is happening, however it would be cool and in keeping with the theme.
