TheBFG37 he/him Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I just reread the Ellista interlude in Oathbringer, and can’t help noticing some similarities the book she reads and in universe characters. Namely Shallan Kaladin and Adolin. So I propose the theory that in a future novel hoid will be a love interest along with two other men for a single woman. 2
+Bliev she/her Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I love that interlude! I always felt it was more a Kaladin/Laral/Roshone parallel (except the young Brightlady does not choose the strapping young soldier but rather the "safe" rich Lord)...but the addition of the "King's Wit" on the last page was brilliant. How fun would it be if it's actually based on Hoid's past philandering about Roshar? Love those little tidbits. 2
GoWibble he/him Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I think that the King's Wit was added for comedic effect. Remember, he wasn't the Kings Wit long enough ago to be seen in popular literature as a type of character
Aluminum he/him Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I think its just brandon wanting to poke fun at victorian literature 1
Karger he/him Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 (edited) In the type of literature that Brandon was clearly making fun of(in a good way) there are nearly always two men. Edited December 13, 2019 by Ookla the Prolific
Honorless he/him Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Agreed with @Aluminum, it was just a reference to the harlequins/bodice rippers
