I lost my flute Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I was just re-reading Oathbringer and I came across the part when Szeth is practicing with Spoiler the skybreakers and thinks about not feeling the freedom of Lashing without trying to kill someone, since his childhood, training with the Honorblades. I looked at the word and I realized it was Honorblades plural. So does that mean that all of the Honorblades besides the one currently being used by Bridge Four are in Shin territory. If not, does anybody know the locations of the Honorblades.
Chiberty Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 As far as we know, the Shin have 7 Honorblades. Jezrien's blade is currently in the possession of Vyre, Nale has his own, and the location of Taln's is unknown (As it was swapped with a different Shardblade sometime between the end of WoK and WoR). 3
RShara she/her Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Yup the Shin have most of them. Moash/Vyre has the Windrunner Blade now. Nale has his. Taln's is MIA. 1
Weltall Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 As a reminder, we've known that the Stone Shamanate had possession of eight of the ten Honorblades since Words of Radiance, as Taravangian and Szeth mention this fact during their meeting. They started out with the nine the Heralds lef behind as seen in the Aharietiam vision in Oathbringer, then Nale retrieved his at some point (first mentioned by Brandon, confirmed in OB when he summons it) and Jezrien's Blade was given to Szeth and eventually made its way into Moash's hands bringing their collection down to seven. 2

Last we checked anyway. What with all of the secret groups who know this at this point I would not be too surprised if someone had found a way to steal another one. The shin used to have 9(all but Taln's) then Nale retrieved his(we do not know how but he is a Herald) and then they lost Jezrien's when they made Szeth truthless.
Chiberty Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) The Shin might have let Nale take his back. They still think of him as a deity (Nin-son-god), and there seems to be artwork of him retrieving it. The Relief of Nalan'Elin Edited July 31, 2019 by ChickenLiberty Added caption

Song-god is an honorific that they gave the Heralds because they do not know the names of the Herald's parents and do not wish to dishonnor them by referring to them just by one name. Also Szeth said that they awoke one day to find it missing.

This isn't entirely impossible, as it's exactly the lie Taravangian comes up with in the aforementioned WoR conversation and Szeth is willing to accept it. Both at least consider it a possibility at least. Both also implicitly assume that at the time of their conversation, the Shin were still in possession of eight of the ten including Jezrien's Blade which Szeth was currently using. Speaking of which, they apparently expected to get Jezrien's Blade back; Szeth was quite certain they'd retrieve it from him after he died.

Szeth is not just the blade he is also the training. I do not think that a group of lower level Szeths would have too much trouble killing and stealing an honorblade from just about anyone.
Ripheus23 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I think the Honorblades are on Roshar, but I'm probably wrong somehow like if they are in Shadesmar...

I am going to go out on a lim and say that they are on Roshar. I don't have proof but I think it is a reasonable assumption. I also do not think they are in Shadesmar as the Shin do not have access to Cultivation's perpendicularity and we have no idea how anyone could use Honor's.

Maybe there are Shin like Jasnah who can go over? I can't remember if Elsecallers can "stay" in Shadesmar at will...

Kon-Tiki he/him Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 That relief was made by the Alethi on the Shattered Plains, who don't seem to know much of anything about Shardblades
