Ripheus23 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) We know Autonomy has Avatars, whatever those are. What if there are many other Avatars out there, including as survivors of otherwise dead Vessels/Shards? Guesses: Nohadon was an Avatar of Honor. Nightblood is an Avatar of Ruin. Austre was an Avatar of Endowment. Jaddeth/the original Wyrn are/were Avatars of Dominion. The Three Virgins were Avatars of Devotion. The Evil is an Avatar of Ambition. Odium doesn't seem like a guy who'd want Avatars, at least if those pose a personal-independence risk... EDIT: Define: Hoid = Avatar(Hoid) Edited July 28, 2019 by Ripheus23
+Invocation Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 That's assuming all Shards can even manifest avatars in the same way Autonomy does. It's very possible they can't. 1

Or that their shardic intent prohibits it. 2 hours ago, Ripheus23 said: Nohadon was an Avatar of Honor. Spren are sort of avatars. Nohadon was almost certainly not one.

What if there are many other Avatars out there, including as survivors of otherwise dead Vessels/Shards? I don't know what distinguishes an Avatar from a Splinter, so it's hard to tell. I mean, the Stormfather is the primary surviving remnant of Honor, does he count as an Avatar? Quote Guesses: Nohadon was an Avatar of Honor. Nohadon seems way too human in Dalinar's visions to be a Shard-or-major-spren/Splinter-like being. Quote Nightblood is an Avatar of Ruin. I don't see how that would be possible, since Nightblood's Investiture is primarily/originally of Endowment. Quote Austre was an Avatar of Endowment. Jaddeth/the original Wyrn are/were Avatars of Dominion. Possible, but I think Austre and Jaddeth are somewhat inaccurate descriptions of Endowment and Dominion, not actual beings. You are likely correct. 10 minutes ago, cometaryorbit said: Who are those? Agreed. I think this is supposed to be a joke. 11 minutes ago, cometaryorbit said: Nohadon seems way too human in Dalinar's visions to be a Shard-or-major-spren/Splinter-like being. I am not personally convinced Nohadon in Dalinar's vision is actually Nohadon the writer of way of kings.
Ripheus23 Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Umm the Three Virgins are mentioned in Elantris. They are probably Sel's moons but I'm suspicious.

Its an expresion Kiin uses, like "for the Three Virgins!". It is never mentioned again, neither in book or in the Coppermind. I dont know. It stuck to me cause it was really odd and off place. Btw, Sel only has one moon, so that cant be.
Ripheus23 Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Brandon Sanderson Oh, and I'm not exactly certain why the Three Virgins were surprised. However, this line from Kiin always cracks me up. I think of three virgins, think of them very surprised, and. . .yeah. Anyway, I'm sure they got more than they expected. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/133/#e2037
