What if Sazed had ingested lerasium ?

In WoA , why didn't leras feed the larasium to sazed. A fullborn would have been an incredible help against ruin , especially since he wouldn't be dependent on atium compounding like tlr . Also couldn't the lerasium have been split so that elend could survive while Sazed became fullborn. I mean elend had to die anyway for Vin to be able to kill ati in the first place right. Could Sazed being depressed have led to him being useless  , even with fullborn abilities ? What might have Happened if Sazed had ingested the lerasium ??

I'm just going to address this part as @RShara's post actually hits everything else in your question... 

Had Sazed ingested Lerasium he would not have been able to Ascend as he did. He would have been too connected to Preservation to become the vessel of Ruin.

Also, Leras was not really coherent enough to be actively planning at this point - he had forgotten his original plan, and wasn't really sure what to do. (As RShara says, Secret History gives a much clearer view of this than WoA/HoA by itself.)
