I don’t know how to insert WoBs (I’m on mobile) but there is a WoB out there talking about when Brandon decided to kill Eshonai and focus on Venli instead in the current timeline. And he said it wasn’t originally planned but he saw it working better this way early on. He then also said that he had warned from the beginning that some flashback characters might not live to their flashback book. So all this together makes me think at least one other besides Eshonai is a goner. But I can’t decide who I think it will be. Eshonai/Venli are just a really good pair for all the parallels they will have and I don’t see any other flashback characters having a good contemporary pairing yet. Maybe paired up with a contemporary member of their order. Perhaps if Adolin is able to reawaken maya, him or lift might be at risk. But I also wouldn’t really like that. Because the only good character to currently pair her with is Shallan and I think we’ve had a lot of Shallan already. And because Jasnah is awesome. I think Szeth dies before the end of the series but probably not before his book. Maybe during his book. Not saying she can't die, but unless new info shows itself between now and book 10, I am not sure what purpose her death would serve. In order of likely-to-least likely: Szeth - I could see him dying at the end of Book 5. He has a confrontation with Vasher and/or Azure set up (which makes me think that Nightblood might be passed to Adolin); has expressed death-seeking tendencies on multiple occasions, and given how his arc has gone, might end up being his happy ending; and overall knows far more than the plot can allow! Renarin - We know so little about how his magic works right now, but I could see it happening and it being sad. Jasnah - I'm just not sure she'll live all the way to the end of the series. But who knows. Taln - Given how much he's sacrificed, him dying before getting a happy ending would be super depressing. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

To me that already happened. Like I said, to each their own, but for me unless new information presents itself, I do not see how Jasnah dying would aid the narrative.
