"Hm." Jaywalk glanced around, taking in his surroundings. "It's quiet. Nice change." He turned to Xino, folding his arms. "What have you found around here so far? Any weapons? Artifacts? Snacks? I'm starving."

"We've found a bunch of de-powered devices, but," he smiled. "no food yet. But here." Xino pulled a pouch from somewhere and tossed it to Jaywalk. "Condensed energy," he said. "It's a Tom thing."

Could I get a description of what the HQ looks like?

Austere white walls, no sharp corners.

Star allowed herself to take her time walking through the abandoned headquarters. This day had been too fast paced for her. Waking up to find Heather with spikes through her eyes, then the realization that Pheonix was not what she expected, and the hectic scramble from the collapsing branch. It was too much. But Heather was alright now and that took a huge weight off of her shoulders. She was alright and she'd agreed to be Star's daughter. Asking her if she could adopt her had been a split second decision, but it felt so right, so natural. Star smiled, taking a deep breath. Things would turn out okay in the end. This morning, she'd been convinced that Pheonix was her happy ending (and the thought of telling him anything otherwise made her skin crawl, but it had to be done and soon) but... she already had her family. Made up of her, Heather, Xino, Ember, and... sure, why not Pheo? Oh, add Jay on the list as well. Things were finally looking up. And she'd make sure that it stayed that way.

"Hey!" called out a voice. "What are you doing here?"

Star looked up, surprised, but not startled. She looked around for the source of the voice. "I should ask you the same question," she said, slightly smug.

Jared strode up to her, frowning. "This is my headquarters. Mime HQ. You- whoever you are- are most definitely not a mime."

Jaywalk caught it. "Condensed energy, huh? Thanks." He reached inside the pouch, pulling out a sphere of shifting colors. It was almost sticky--as he moved it around in his palm, it left behind a trail of light zapping. Static electricity, perhaps? He popped it in his mouth, and it melted on his tongue, seeping into his body. Suddenly he felt more energized than he had in a long time. Shivers ran down his spine. "That's powerful stuff."

Xino shrugged. "Tom's a powerful guy." He yawned, then pulled another one out for himself. "Speaking of which- weren't you on the other side? Tom's been trying to bridge the gap but he hasn't been able to."

Heather quietly sung in the shower, thinking about officially being Star’s adopted daughter. You don’t deserve her love. She thought. You never will. Did you see how you treated Ember? Star won’t be as quick to forgive…  But she did forgive me.” Heather said out loud. She sighed and continued to sing and wash up, trying to banish similar doubts.

After finishing in the shower, the Inquisitor got dressed. It felt nice to finally wear her suspenders. It made her feel…Normal. Then she combed out her hair and came out of the bathroom and felt like she had washed her worries away, or forgotten them for a brief period of time.

“I was,” Jaywalk said, “but I’ve found myself on many different sides. It was the will of the Void that I made it here, I guess.” He frowned. “Though I can’t imagine why.”

Star raised her eyebrow and smiled. "Well, I apologize, sir. No one was here before. I'm on my way to find my friends."

"Before what?" said Jared, confused. "This facility has been filled for the past three thousand years."

“It’s hard to comprehend.” Jaywalk scratched his head. “You start dealing with infinity, you go a little crazy. I’ve been to a lot of places—some different sides of the same places. Universes, galaxies, planets, nations.” He looked at Xino. “Do you know much about the Void?”

"Tom told us a little about it,"  said Xino. "He said it was the space that universes existed within, the fabric that held them together. Or something like that." He shook his head. "Anyways, the point of him telling about it was to explain why he couldn't use it to bridge the gap between the split realities. So that still wouldn't explain how you got here."

“I wasn’t in the Void when you found me. The last few months are kind of a blur—how I got where I was...that’s a mystery to me. I’d lost all connection to the Void in there.”

Star rolled her eyes and shared a series of memories with the mime, briefly showing him with a little telepathy that the hallways had clearly been empty. "As you can see, you are mistaken, sir. Besides, you have no right to order me around. I am Narrator Star and I suggest you run along back to where you came from. I will not be staying long."

"Hmm. Well, maybe Tom will be able to puzzle it out." Xino stood up. "Speaking of which, we should probably be getting back."

Jared felt a brief flash of surprise- a Narrator, here? -but irritation overpowered it. "I don't care if you're the Queen of Dugotti- unless you have authorization, I have the right to... escort you off the premises." The air rippled threateningly around his hand as he prepared his Silence blade.

Star laughed. It felt good. She hadn't done so in a while. "Oh my..." she said, catching her breath. "You really think you... Ah hahaha!" She sighed, shaking her head. "I told you, dear, I'm not staying long. As soon as I find my friends, I will be on my way and we two shall never cross paths again. Good day." She curtsied, located Pheo's mind with telepathy, then snapped and teleported to his location.

Star dusted off her dress. "Hello, my friends. I do think we should be leaving this place. I ran into a mime on the way here and he was not very pleased to see me. Oh, and a very odd thing happened. I was able to touch Heather and give her a hug, even though she was in the other universe. I suppose that means... they're back together." She shrugged. "I'm very glad you're all safe. Now, as I said, we really must be going back to the ship."

"Heather's alright?" said Pheonix anxiously.

"Reality... what?" said Xino incredulously.

Jared's fists clenched. He gritted his teeth. How dare she-?

No. He would not stand for this. This was his territory.

He inhaled in Silence, activating his aura, and pushed through reality.

He popped out in front of her, Silent Blade extended.

"No," he said, voice as cold as ice. "You leave now."

Star regraded Pheonix. Asking about Heather. That... that was so sweet.

She cut off as the mime she’d just evaded popped into reality in front of them. “Time to go!” she exclaimed. She snapped, taking the whole group back to the ship’s entrance.

Jared -hot on her trail- was not impressed.

He flicked his weapon with his finger, sending out a toll of Silent sound.

Xino's body relaxed, and he fell to the ground asleep. Pheonix let out an involuntary yawn.

Jared muttered something under his breath- he'd expected that to work better - but was not swayed.

"I'll give you three seconds," he said. "Three. Two. One."

"Out entirely," hissed Jared, flinging his hand forwards to release a spray of jagged red lighting.

Fortunately, Tom got the hint and teleported the boat away before it could hit.

Star huffed. "By the Author..." She knelt, shaking Xino gently to wake him.

Ember's ears perked up slightly, picking up Heather's singing over the soft roar of running water in the room behind her. The Destroyer's face brightened (literally) and tipped her head back, closing her eyes pleasantly. She hummed a sustained note to go along with that beautiful, but muted sound. It reverberated melodically in her chest, ringing metallicly. When the chord in Heather's song changed, Ember lost her pitch and raised her eyebrows a bit frustrated. She crossed her arms, annoyed. But what did it matter, Heather was the better singer anyway. A pretty voice indeed. Ember resolved to ask for more music once Heather emerged. That would be nice.

Star offered her hand to help him up. "A mime was walking around those corridors. I ran into him and he didn't seem very happy to see me. We just narrowly avoided being fried. I don't think it's advisable to go in there again." She sighed. "But it's over now. And, as I was saying earlier, I do believe the Universes have come back together. That might explain why that mime was there."
