"You want help?" offered X's avatar.

"Going through the sticky thing? I think I've perfected it. If I could only get her to check on us, then she'd see and try to find them herself. Problem is, she doesn't think she can do it for us. Just for Song."

So Melody thinks she can only do... what? for Song?

Melody thinks she can only check Song's thoughts/memories.

"Yeah. But maybe as she remembers she'll figure out that she can do it for us, too?"

"So there's no way to go see her?"

"I mean, not unless someone can open another portal."

As he looked back at Ghanderflaffle city, Darryl felt a faint tingling in his left hand. He glanced down to notice that It seemed to be in the process of fading from existence. "Huh. I've been wanting to study DS. Glad that I noticed it though." He glanced back up at the city, only to see it was gone. "Wait. That's not normal, is it?" The ground disappeared in front of him in a wave. A spike of alarm ran through Darryl as the ground beneath him disappeared.

*Shift*

As he looked at the trees in the verdant forest around him, Darryl felt a faint tingling in his left hand. He glanced down to notice that It seemed to be in the process of fading from existence. "Huh. I've been wanting to study DS. Glad that I noticed it though." He glanced up briefly, then pulled out his notebook to scribble down some notes.

Darryl glanced up again. "I'm cataloguing information on a prevalent disease. It kills almost everyone eventually."

"Well, we don't want you dying! Melody's just barely started to check out her memory loss!"

"That's great! Don't worry about me dying, DS isn't that bad, as long as you notice it before you disappear."

"So how are you going to fix it?"

"Well, I just have to keep myself from falling asleep, and stay aware of the problem, and my hand should fade back into reality." Darryl hesitated, "Usually. Sometimes it doesn't work, and you just... fade. It's a danger of life here. I suppose it's different in other places."

"Good to know. But what if it doesn't work? You know a lot more than we do."

"Good. Melody's going to get hot dogs, but she's annoyed by the block."
