+ZincAboutIt she/her Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 On 7/2/2019 at 0:45 PM, Sorana said: "No questions, no explanations. Just a few minutes of quiet outside of the usual - business." Taking another bite she turned earnest, took Nerin's hand, offering silent comfort. Nerin stared at Attayl's hand, gentle despite the life she'd led. The life that would have been Nerin's, if she hadn't snapped. Her mind wound backwards, the distant past so much easier to inspect than recent events. I wonder if Mother ever had a place like this? If so, Nerin had never seen it, though she thought it unlikely. Attayl worked the streets; Nerin's mother had worked in a house. A better life, supposedly. Though, compared to what? 'Now be a good girl, Nerin," her mother whispered, 'and play in the Beautiful Room.' "I was born in the First Octant," Nerin said suddenly, not sure why she was speaking. "My mother worked in a house there. Father must've been someone important, because Mother didn't have any Allomancy - my half-brother doesn't either. Just me." She continued staring at Attayl's hand, taking another small bite of the cake. "I left at seventeen, and I never went back. Managed to keep the customers off me with my Brass. All of them...but one." 'Do you think we're done here, girl?' His hand over her neck, pushing her into the alley wall. Stupid - she should have taken the main street. Why hadn't she? Nerin burned brass like she always did, Soothing his anger, his lust. Nothing. 'Copper,' he whispered in her ear, low and soft. 'Ain't it marvelous? Out here, we're even, you and me. 'Cept we ain't even at all, doll.' His hand on her skirt, tugging. 'We ain't even at all.' Nerin took the last bite of cake and pulled one of her hair pins out of her pocket, setting it on the table. It looked so innocent, all polished wood and rounded gem at the top. Not quite. She sighed, then met Attayl's eyes. "We should get back, I think. Brillin will be awake soon." She looked away, sliding the pin back into her pocket. "Thank you," she said softly. "You were right, the cake helped."
I think I am here. he/him Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 On 03/07/2019 at 2:10 AM, John Flamesinger said: "It's alright," Alyssa said, glaring at John. "He just overreacted." She glared at him some more. He turned towards Brillin. "I'm sorry." A note of true sorrow echoed through his words. "Oh, and I'm Alyssa," she said, extending her hand. "You must be Brillin?" @I think I am here. “Yes,” Brillin said, taking it and shaking it. John must’ve been protective of her, but why? She’d taken that punch far better than any other he’d seen. Turning to the bed he saw the blanket and bedsheets strewn about in a fabric mess. Sighing he flattened them, folded the blanket and tried his best to make it look presentable. “Uh, what brings you here, Alyssa?”
+Sorana she/her Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 “… but one.” Attayl saw the shadow over Nerin’s eyes when she obviously remembered, and she looked down, stared at the cakes herself. But one. They all had their one, she guessed. The one person that overpowered you, that overstepped borders, that was in control. She swallowed, grabbed another cake and took a bite herself. Nerin’s mother had been a whore, just like her own. 1st Octant, whereas hers had worked in the 7th. Nerin was who she could have ended up, had she spoken about her alomancy, had she been brave enough to take control over her life. It was like a mirror, they were two sides of one coin. “I think that’s a good idea.” She replied and got to her feet. Go back to the parlor. See if Brillin had woken up, try to find out where Lance had gone. See if they could get some information about the harbor. John, that crazy one who claimed to be from a different world. Probably a drug addicted of some sorts. She took another cake, enjoyed the sweet taste. Brillin. She would have to talk to him, later. She looked at Nerin sitting there at the table. It was the first time, she had opened up, she had really talked to her. Attayl looked outside, slowly “Thank you.” She gently squeezed her hand again. There were no other words necessary. Nerin knew, that she understood. Attayl carefully covered the remaining cakes, folded a napkin in a form that indicated a thank you and they walked back to the parlor. “If you ever need to get out of everything again – Jo now knows your face. And nobody there will ask a question.” They walked through the streets in silence and Attayl decided on a slightly longer way back, which would give her the opportunity to walk over the marketplace. There was a shop that sold tea and maybe a good cup of tea would help Nerin as well. She walked by the little store, knew what she wanted and where the owner usually placed it. Without really looking she grabbed to packages. A good herbal tea for Nerin and a one that helped to soothe you stomach for Brillin. Judging his earlier drunkenness, he would need it. She never changed their speed, but made sure to take some turns, so that they would be out of reach before the owner realized what was gone. He was easy to steal from, but then most thieves weren’t interested in tea. Grinning slightly she handed the package to Nerin once they’d stepped into the parlor. “It’s one of my favourites. You should give it a try.” @ZincAboutIt 2

"We're... old friends. Very old friends." Her eyes glazed over as memories floated to the surface. At least, all of the memories that she wanted. There were others. A Burning House, screams as she ran. No. She closed her eyes, and managed to store that memory back in her coppermind. It wouldn't last there very long: she hadn't sung while doing it. She looked up. "Why are you in Elendel, Brillin? I you don't see many koloss-blooded folks out here. At least, that's what I've heard." A small smile crept across her lips. "I've never been to Scadrial's Physical Realm before." The feather that hang from around her ear floated in front of her face, before she blew it away. @I think I am here. John walked downstairs and found Aben still stacking glasses. He managed to hold in his sigh, and walked to the front window. "Where's Nerin and Attayl?" @Dr. Dapper Quote It's for you this time, not Itiah. Though yes for Itiah above. Edited July 4, 2019 by John Flamesinger Well, I decided that the post was to short. old man moomba he/him Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 "No idea. I think they left." Aben said, stacking the final glass and turning to face John. "Feel like sparing? I could use a partner."
John Flamesinger he/him Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 "Sure," John replied, walking out the back door and drawing his sword. Then he hesitated. "Would it be better if we used staffs instead?" @Dr. Dapper
old man moomba he/him Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 "If you want a fair chance at beating me, sure." Aben grinned, "But where to get quarterstaves at this time of day?"
+Sorana she/her Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Quote Nerin and Attayl are back at the parlor. Let's just say you missed the door and they didn't step back in the main room, yet? @John Flamesinger @Dr. Dapper
John Flamesinger he/him Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 John walked outside, and started walking down the street, hoping to come across a marketplace. He hoped Aben was following. @Dr. Dapper
old man moomba he/him Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Aben shoved his way through the crowds, making his way to a woodworker's shop he'd seen earlier while in the wolf dream. He stepped up to a man who looked to be the master woodworker and started to speak. "I'd like to buy two quarterstaves. I assume you have some here?" the man nodded, turning to yell at one of the other carpenters, but paused. "Anything else?" he asked. "Yes, actually. A pair of practice swords. They're lathes of wood bundled together and attached to a hilt. Think you could make something like that?" "Sure, sure. Give me a few hours." the woodworker raised his voice and shouted, "One of you rustheads bring me two fighting sticks from the storeroom!" he turned back to Aben, "You want those swords delivered?" "Sure." Aben gave the address of the parlor, paid the man and smoothly took the staves from a confused carpenter.
John Flamesinger he/him Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 After a while he started following Aben, since he appeared to know where he was going. While Aben purchased the quarterstaves, he listened in on a couple of conversations around him. One of them stopped his breath. "I saw them dragged in." The small women whispered to her friend as they shopped at the fruit stand next to John. "Two men, one of them in a Mistcloak, just like the Mistborn in the Ashen World. To that warehouse, just over there." Lance. Dragged? There's something wrong. I don't like him, but he is the new 'protector' of the parlor. John walked up to Aben and tapped him on the shoulder as he collected the staves and told him what he had heard. @Dr. Dapper
+Sorana she/her Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Attayl smiled at Nerin again, then headed into the kitchen. She made some hot water, then cooked a tea for Brillin. Carefully she placed everything on a serving plate and then walked upstairs. To her surprise Brillin was awake already and so she simply sat the plate down on the small table. He was talking with the woman Neri had opened the door to earlier. "I made some tea for your stomach." She explained, laughed awkwardly. "But you don't seem to need it, so I can drink it as well, I guess. Here," she handed him the bag full of tea. "maybe you can use it again." @I think I am here. @John Flamesinger 1

Maybe she was with John, he thought. Shared delusions? But she was nice enough and Brillin didn’t mention it. “Well, I was actually just passing through, sightseeing,” he said honestly, laughing a little. How innocent his little venture into Elendel had been. “And now,” he gestured around. “I guess I’m stuck here until the gang war cools down.” Attayl walked in, with tea and explained she’d made it for Brillin. He smiled and took the bag of tea. “Thanks,” he said, sitting on the bed. He wanted to apologise for his actions while drunk, for being rude, but the woman, Alyssa, was here, and he didn’t need to let another person know about his little... affliction. “Everything okay?” He asked. He looked to the floor. “How’s the Parlour?” @Sorana Edited July 6, 2019 by I think I am here.

Her eyes rested on him, how he sat there, staring at the floor. He seemed sober, which was a feat on its own and in general seemed better than before. "The streets are calming down. I think you can leave in a few days." She told him, although she still wished that he would stay here. "Once everything is blown over, not many will care about you and that article anymore. And maybe Nerin or I know some contacts to ensure a safe travel."

He heard the unlocking of the door, and kicked with all his might, expecting the door to break off, knocking out a guard, but it barely hit the guard. Rusts, I need pewter! He tackled the guard, it's cane falling to the ground. "Lance! Get the cane!" He yelled at Lance as he struggled with the guard.

old man moomba he/him Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) "Good point." Aben agreed. He set the staff on his shoulder and began to run towards the warehouse, stopping when he was about ten feet away. He sized up the building. Low, probably two stories, with an loading dock facing the canal. He didn't see any guards, but the main doors were bolted shut. Edited July 7, 2019 by Dr. Dapper
