John Flamesinger he/him Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 John put the mobile away, releasing his metalmind. "I'm here to see my heritage," he announced, making it clear with his face that he wouldn't say any more. He started moving toward the door again, and stopped just beside it.
I think I am here. he/him Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Brillin stayed still, his foot tapping anxiously against the timber flooring, watching in silence as Attayl and Nerin tried to step over a single chalk line and stopped. Brillin was about to try when the kid removed the line. Must have been some special chalk. Perhaps it was poisonous. Or some sort of wire. Then the girl was holding a sword. A large sword with small droplets of water shimmering around its surface. She claimed it could cut through anything before removing it. No. Scammers existed everywhere. And it seemed the lot of them had grown more creative. “That’s some... fine illusory skills,” Brillin said. He made a note to write about this. With scammers who could make something seem so real they’d probably make more money working at a theatre than not. “But I’m afraid you underestimate us,” Brillin said, crossing his arms and stepping back. “That sword isn’t real. If it was, it would be too big and heavy for a little girl to hold, even with pewter. So it must be paper, easily folded and unfolded.” It appeared some mist had snapped into the the shape of the sword. “The mist was to distract us, so we wouldn’t see you quickly unfold it and bring it out from your pocket. And that’s why it had some condensed water on it’s surface, because it was folded into a small shape in your pocket for so long.” Brillin finished. It seemed a lot of work, but it was the only explanation.

And with that, she summoned her blade, and slammed it through the table, down into the floor. "Is that good enough for you?" Edited June 12, 2019 by Emperor Stick

That wasn't why he was staring. He leaned over to her and whispered, "Too much, maybe? We are trying to earn their trust, after all." Edited June 12, 2019 by John Flamesinger You should play Halo.
overlord stick Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Vena dismissed her shardblade and sat back down. "Ah, right. So uh, I hope that table wasn't too expensive? Sorry..."
old man moomba he/him Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Aben looked on flatly. He'd seen a lot and this wasn't new to him. "Right. When do we go?"
John Flamesinger he/him Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 "When do we go?" He directed his words at Nerin. @ZincAboutIt
+Sorana she/her Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Attayl's fear vanished when Nerin soothed her and when they continued to talk, Nerin seemed to accept all the stuff about another world. Attayl was more with Brillin in that regard, destroying a table didn't prove anyting, but if Nerin went along with it, she could as well. She stepped back from her, they would only plan how to go there, what to do and as she wasn't going along. Silently she started to remove the pieces of the table and to clean the floor. The other tables would have to be rearranged to cover the gap.
+ZincAboutIt she/her Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 "Now," Jeb said, pushing the box into Nerin's arms. "Put that in a bag, girl, and hurry." Nerin did as she was told, bustling about and settling the box into a large shoulder bag before slinging it over her shoulder. She looked at Jeb, then the assembled group. "Be careful," she said. Jeb laughed. "It's you who should be careful, girl. Don't worry about an old man like me." There was a tightness around his eyes that spoke of more anxiety than he was letting on. Nerin smiled at him, trying to cover up her own fear too. She stepped towards Attayl, who had begun clearing up the pieces of the table. "There's a hidden door to a cellar beneath the back parlor window," she whispered to Attayl. "If anything happens, get yourself and anyone else down there. Keep your bronze on." Nerin straightened up and looked at Vena. "That table is coming out of your wages. It isn't exactly raining boxings here in the Hollows." She stepped to the door, casting a final look at Jeb and the few who were staying. He smiled back at her, raising a hand. Nerin returned the smile, then looked toward Stravomenos. "After you," she said quietly, trying to ignore the small sliver of ice in her guts. Everything will be fine, she told herself. @Invocation @Emperor Stick @Dr. Dapper Quote Can't tag anymore people. @whoever is going with Nerin
overlord stick Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Vena stood back down and walked toward the door, ready to go. "Sorry... I can soulcast it when we get back, it won't be too much trouble."
old man moomba he/him Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Aben grabbed his father's sword and slung it onto his back. "All ready." he muttered, stepping up next to the door.
John Flamesinger he/him Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 John followed everyone out the door. "Wait!" He called, turning back. He pulled out his mobile and put a boxing on it before handing it to Jeb. "Take care of this for me until I get back, will you?" He closed the door and caught up with the group. This is gonna be interesting.

Stravomenos nodded, leading the party out of the door and on a winding path through Elendel, weaving through alleys and along thoroughfares, ending in front of a nondescript shack. "This is it. One of the higher ranking Farriers is inside. From here, I defer to you on what to do, Nerin." @ZincAboutIt ======================== Lance stirred on the roof. The door opened again, after that strange man was let in. He watched as a line of people filed out, led by the newcomer and followed them at a distance on their way to a safehouse.
+Sorana she/her Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 It was pay day. Then men approached the Parlor. The had waited until most of those that had spend the night there left, had carefully observed where they went. Their protector had left his spot on the roof as well. A mistake, and one he would pay for. There were few rules, but one was to protect those that paid you and the second one to punish those, that betrayed you. And the old man leading the parlor had decided to betray the Scarlets. They had observed, waited to see how the parlor would decide. That they switched sides wasn’t surprising, they were one of the firsts, but not the only ones. And in the end, that only meant one thing. They needed to show everybody, that the Scarlets were still strong, that they didn’t take betrayal lightly. And that meant, the old man had to die. They had left him behind, alone, another mistake. He would die, they would send a clear and easy message. He opened the door to the parlor and stepped inside. Nobody was there to greet him, hardly a surprise. There were noises coming out of the main parlor room, and he gestured for two of his men to circle around. The old man wasn’t alone, probably more guards. The Farriers knew, that this was a critical moment. Good thing they had come prepared. He pulled a gun out of his belt and made sure it was ready to fire. Attayl continued to clear the floor, when she heard a noise. The front door opening, a gun readied. Fear surged and she whirled around, started at the door. “There is a trap door. Nerin told me, in case anything goes wrong.” She told Brillin and gestured towards where the door should be, then looked around for Jeb. Gone, but she could hear noises coming out of the kitchen. Her hand slowly reached for the handle of her knife. Probably nothing. Only someone dropping some mail. With a gun. But maybe it was nothing. @I think I am here.

Quickly he kneeled where Attayl at said the trapdoor was and tried finding a latch or handle or anything that could open a trap door. His hands fumbled as he thought about the criminals shooting him, his life ending short, no more travels for him. He felt something on the floor and grabbed onto it. “Which gang do you think it is?” He asked her quietly.

Taking an eating knife she slid it over to him. "You should be safe down there. I will check on Jeb. I can't let him face them alone." She stated and finally started to burn bronze. Nothing. But that didn't mean anything. Only that they weren't using any allomancy right now. Quickly she turned her head and smiled at him. "It's not your conflict. Don't feel bad about hiding." The strange device on a table started maing noises and she jumped in surprise. From outside the door she heard a voice, confusion. Quote They will throw the door open next, enter the room. Four men, one armed with a gun, the others carry knives and clubs. No allomancy, normal thugs. I wanted to give you a chance to act before they step into the room, but the time slot is small, maybe a second or two. If you want to, you can include it in your post of course. They will threaten, but their target is Jeb. 22 minutes ago, John Flamesinger said: The Mobile that John had put on the table started making bell noises. Quote Alright... She was right, it wasn’t his conflict, and Brillin was right to hide. Hiding was the sensible thing, the right thing to do. But was it the cowardly thing to do? He lowered himself into the hidden compartment, closing the trapdoor above him. From above the hidden trap door he could hear the door break down and his eyes widened as he tried not to make any noise, his head right next to the closed roof of the trapdoor, trying listening to anything else. Oddly, there was the sound of a bell too.

The door was thrown open and a man stepped into the room. He stared at her, then at the strange device, then a devilish smile crossed his face. "The little playtool." He greeted her and she grit her teeth, hoped Jeb had the sense to hear what was going on, to hide. "I'll never forget that scar of yours. Daddy is dead, I hear he got smashed to pulp yesterday. How sad. I'd planned to borrow you one day." It helped. Somehow the familiar taunts helped, and she looked at the man, at the three standing behind him. He would leave her alone. She knew him. He was a killer, no rapist. And he had his team under control. Her hand closed around her knife and he gave a short laugh. "Tell me, where is the owner, of this beautiful place?" Sauntering over he raised an eyebrow at the device. "And what is this?" "I don't know." Her voice was strong, firm, just as she had practiced for years. Be strong, appear strong, then they wil respect you. "The owner is gone, he's not here anymore." Hopefully Jeb would take the clue. A pulse and then he was there, his weapon beneath her chin. "Where is the owner? Tell me, or I'll add another scar to your ugly face."

She upped her Brass burn, Soothing the anxiety around her, allowing the group to feel confident, ready, prepared. It would be important to present a strong front - not threatening, but not too weak, either. She was careful to also Soothe some pride - no point in looking too flippant. They needed protection. "Right," she said, pleased that her voice was steady and sure. "Come in after me, and don't do anything stupid, or sudden. You two," she pointed to Aben and Rilen, "stay out here and watch the street." That done, she knocked on the little door once, twice, three times. Nerin waited, feeling her heart in her throat. Finally, the door creaked open, though Nerin could see no one on the other side. More Allomancy, she thought, stepping forward through the doorway and tightening her grip on the strap of her bag. These people were powerful, and they weren't shy about showing off. "Well, if it isn't the little parlor girl from Depot 9," a cool, female voice floated across the air - a refined accent, not quite nobility, but not far off. "I see that old Jeb is still as smart as ever, and just as much a coward. Step into the light, then, little nightingale. It's time to see what you've brought us." Quote Alright, feel free to chime in here if you want, just don't start a fight yet. The fight will come a bit later, with more Scarlets. I'm not planning to stretch this out but it's important to start developing the Farriers a bit. Stick, if you want to insert your Farriers character in the background, feel free.
