+Invocation Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 What are the strangest comments that fill you with a deep unsettled feeling? I'll start: "I will unslice your bread" 2
I think I am here. he/him Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 “Moash is a compelling character,” 4

It's perfectly logical to be unsettled by that comment due to the sheer lack of judgement it would take to make that claim with a straight face.
+ZincAboutIt she/her Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I really hate the phrase "hunky-dory," it sets my teeth on edge. I don't know why, but I hate it.
Nathrangking he/him Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 When people say Que sera, sera I get annoyed because no one ever uses it in the right context!!!
Borio Singaldi he/him Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I am pleased at the existence of this thread. Milk and lemonade go surprisingly good together. I will replace your bookmarks with folded corners. You this read wrong. 4

Elend Venture he/him Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) "Succulent." "arse-backwards" Hey, if your arse is pointing backwards, is it not indubitable that you are moving forewards? I have an aquaintance who uses "indubitably" wrong all the time andmit is secretly VERY annoying. "Holy dolitto!" Does this need an explanation? "Is that a thing?" "That should be a thing." Both phrases earn my equal hate. (Like a lot of things.) "Say this three times fast: 'She sits and shreds the city shed with sheers.' Or the next few words together three times fast. 'Herbert' 'perverse' 'perp.'" Now that is just plain unsettling. Edited April 10, 2019 by ElendVenture

whattheHoid she/her Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) What I found....Some words in the English language are so overused that we don't notice that they are incorrect or don't even exist. A perfect example is irregardless. Many scholars maintain there is no such word as irregardless because regardless already means “without regard.” The -ir prefix is redundant. AonEne he/him Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 No, irregardless would be "with regard". I think.
whattheHoid she/her Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 No the prefix "ir" is a negative prefix, so irregardless literally means without without regard. It's a double negative.
whattheHoid she/her Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Globbing double negatives! See this is why irregardless grinds my gears!
