Aderet decided not to respond to Lizanne's comment. It wouldn't accomplish anything and there was no way she'd go alone. Ever. What did they think she was, disposable?

Instead she did her best to slip back into the background.

Do you want to RP the journey to the house or jump to Renata scouting it? Based on the fact that Renata can see it, the house is not that far but with the injured it would be slow going. I’m good either way just curious.

Renata nodded to Lizanne, pulling unconsciously on the ends of her short hair. It made sense - she’d been a scout for a bit back in Jah Keved. Still, it was potentially dangerous and the last thing she wished was to get trapped in another home.

I’d die first, she thought fiercely. Or kill first. I’ve done it before...

She shook her head a bit, trying to smile reassuringly at the group.

“Should be an easy enough place to scout, at least this place isn’t in the middle of a civil war.”

I'd just jump to you scouting it.

"Thank you."

Lizanne smiled warmly at her.

"I hope we find some water and a place to spend the night. Arun could use the rest and if possible we could replenish our food."

She looked over her shoulder, checked their surroundings both with her eyes and again with the mirror. Nothing. But still, they were observed. It hid in her back, moved everytime she moved.

Jumping seems good to me.

Lisa nodded to Renata, feeling grateful for the offer, but feeling guilty about it as well. "Don't do anything dangerous," she softly said.
She looked at the house, wondering what they could learn about this place. Still, she had a bad feeling about this. It likely wasn't a coincidence they had arrived in this particular location, and the Eye was likely to be from this world as well, which made her suspect that the people living this close to this place wouldn't be all they seemed.

Wilhelm follows to the house, using the rag Lizanne had given him to scrape off dried blood from his mouth.

“I will stay back, do any of you need weapons? I have six knives.”

Lizanne thought about his words, the offer.

"I found one earlier."

She revealed and touched her bag. A risk, asking him was a risk. But then, she was weaker then Renata and Lisa could at least run away. Strong, she had to appear strong then she might have a chance. Her eyes flicked over to the house again. Once Renata left, they would have to wait.

"But I don't know how to use it. Would you mind showing me the basics? At least enough so that I don't hurt myself?"

It was a risk. But he had been supportive so far. Had fought for them. A risk, but a calculated risk. If he said no, she hadn't lost anything.

You can improvise most of the surroundings for it, important things she would notice: Pair of horses hitched out the front, a number of old farming tools lying around. A small path leads from the house past several of the fields before it merges with a somewhat larger path a little ways away, signs of relatively frequent use. Several shapes moving around the inside of the house and it seems like a number of people are participating in some kind of conversation, occasionally raising their voices. Exact words are a little difficult to make out but she would seem to be able to understand the bits of speech that she can hear.

'Awful wailing'
'Forests'
'Soldiers'
'Witless'

Would be a few of the words that are occasionally discernible.

Things she would not notice: Any obvious signs of Investiture, advanced tools or mechanics, any animals other than the horses.

Wilhelm narrowed his eye at her. How did you claim to have survival skills without a knife? Perhaps it was that she didn’t know how to use a knife for combat. For demonstration Wilhelm took out one of his knives.

“One quick thrust,” he said, thrusting into thin air. “Lots of power. Grab onto what you stab.”

He demostrated by pretending there was someone in front of him. He placed a hand where their shoulder would be as he thrust forward with the knife, using his grip like an anchor.

“For efficiency, the heart. For silence, the throat. For incapacitation, the eye.”

He smiled at her, his one eye shining eerily in the sunlight. “And for extra fun you can twist it.”

Lizanne stepped back when he immediatly started to demonstrate. Mistrust shining in his eye, and then his words, twist it. Still she took out her own knife and repeated his motions.

She held the knife, as she would while cooking and stabbed somewhere into the thin air. How was she supposed to hit s heart or an eye? Maybe just go for somewhere and hope that whereever she hit, it would hurt.

"Thank you."

We discovered a house. Renata wants to sneak close and then we'll move there, take a cliser look to see whose there.

Renata moved quietly through the trees, keeping low and watching where she placed her feet. The house lay about thirty yards away, surrounded by fields on all sides but this one, for which Renata was grateful. Soon, the trees thinned out too much for her to hide behind, and she crouched lower into the high grass and small hedges. Renata skirted around the edges of the yard, eyes on the windows, bootknife loosened in its sheath. She spotted a pair of horses hitched outside the front entrance, and her heart beat a little faster.

Two horses. That would be enough for four riders, allowing them to mount the injured and travel at greater speed. She considered stealing them right now - but no. What good were horses if they had no idea where they were, and no food or water? Renata continued circling the property, moving in closer and closer to the house. A little path wound its way down from the yard out into the fields, and if she squinted her eyes she could make out a larger path further away, cut like a brown line into the horizon. A road, maybe? It seemed relatively well-traveled.

A smattering of old farm tools lay out in the yard, seeming to be recently-used. Not abandoned then. That was no surprise after the horses. She saw no evidence of any fabrials, and windows on every side of the house meant that there were likely no highstorms here.

Bless the Almighty.

Something moved out of the corner of her eye as she passed around the far wall of the house, and Renata ducked down, trying to keep her breathing quiet. When no one shouted an alarm, she raised her head tentatively, scooting forward a little and rising up onto her arms to take a look at the window. Figures moved inside the house, too far away to be seen clearly, but they appeared to be having some kind of meeting. Renata could hear them, relieved that she could actually understand some of the words they were saying - that is, until she began listening to them.

"-- awful wailing --" came the voice of one woman, cut off quickly by another voice, a man's, who said something about "forests.... soldiers..."

Renata felt herself go cold. Awful wailing? That could only have been that horrible screaming sound the glowing orb had made when Hellbent stabbed it with his Shardblade.

They're talking about us, she realized. Soldiers? They had definitely made the right move in leaving the ruins of the manor. Who knows who had heard the terrible screams, the collapsing tower? What would be coming for them? Quietly, Renata crept backwards, always keeping her eyes on the house and occasionally behind her, until she was back into the cover of the long grass, then the trees. It was only when she could no longer make out the figures moving in the windows that she got up and began running.

She reached the group a little while later, panting. "We may have a problem," she said, flopping down on the ground. "It seems all the noise we've been making at the manor house didn't go unnoticed. The people in that house were talking about some kind of 'awful wailing' sound they heard."

Lizanne carefully put the knife back into her bag and looked at the house pondering.

"It's not surprising."

She replied and continued to stand there, looking at the small house.

"If you could overhear them, how many are there? Did they seem friendly. What crops were growing on the field?"

For a moment she felt sorry for her many questions, but they were important, if they wanted to survive that was. She still thought, that the house was their only option, without more water they would be dead in a few days. But a fight? Maybe a fight was preferable, if they died quickly, then they were dead and gone. No slow withering away. They should search for a fight, rush towards it and then all of this was over.

So... I really don’t want to totally abandon this but I can’t keep up with it right now. So could someone take Arun for a little bit? Idk how long.

"Thank you."

Wilhelm waved a hand dismissively. “It is nothing, just basic knife uses.”

Renata arrived and told them about how people had overheard them.

“We should interrogate them,” he said. “Or befriend them, so they’re honest.”

"I'd say there's at least four people in there, give or take. I heard two separate voices clearly, but more low talking in the background. They seemed..." Renata thought. "Frightened. Like they were having an important meeting, trying to figure out what to do. They said something about 'soldiers' - maybe someone is coming to check on the ruins of the house? I'm glad we left."

She took out her boot knife and began idly poking it into the dirt as she spoke - the rhythm helped her think. "Crops looked like... what is that called? Some kind of Shin plant. Wheat? Is that right? They have horses too - two of them, hitched outside."

"Horses," Wilhelm repeated.

"Good, we can use them for food if we need to."

Lizanne thought about the information for a while. At least four people. That were three too many. Sounding frightened.

"If there's soldiers on the way here, we need to leave."

She voiced her thoughts.

"If they are fightened because of the soldiers, then we should avoid the soldiers. We are strangers, intruders, we can be lucky if they only -"

her voice broke and she swallowed, pushed the memory aside, out of the way.

"- only capture us. So, in my opinion we should be gone, hidden away when they look for what happened here. I don't want to try to explain, how I am here."

Leaning against a tree to remove weight from her leg she looked over at the hut.

"At least four people. Do any of you think, we can risk to knock on that door?"

"They don't seem to be in much better shape than we are," Renata said. "At least when it comes to weapons. I couldn't see any kind of fabrials, nothing like back on Roshar, and definitely nothing like the Alleycity. Old farm tools, horses, no lights that I could see."

She stood and checked her pack, making sure that everything was still secure.

Lizanne nodded thoughtfully and then turned around, towards the hut. The eye was here. It was hunting her. It was coming closer and closer, hidden from her view, but it was there. She almost hastened, when she started to limp towards the door, her leg hurting, but her fear of the eye spruning her on. They had to give it a try. They had to. Otherwise she would die, the eye would eat her, it would control her. Her heart beat a fast rhythm in her chest, fast than her steps, as fast as she wished she could go. Survive. There was no other option, but to survive. The hut. When she was inside, the eye maybe would stay outside of it, she would be safe from it's view, if only for a few minutes. Every heartbeat out of its glance was a good one.

Ignoring the horses she lifted a hand and knocked on the door, her eyes darting behind her, above her, next to her. Nothing. But it was here, she knew it. It was following her, reaching for her. If only they would open the door soon. Maybe they could fight it, maybe they knew who it was.
