KR Order Oaths And Surges

Question

I was wondering when the KR orders could access all of their surges. Do they get them after swearing the first oath? A later one? Do they get them one at a time? Is it different for every order?

I think they all technically get access to both surges right away. The only real exception to this that we've seen is the Skybreakers, and I believe that's because of how strictly structured they are. Like, Szeth could use Division right away (he was a Squire first, we don't see any limitations on Squires), but he's told not to because that's not how they train their recruits.

Kaladin: Definitely used Gravitation and Adhesion from the beginning.

Shallan: Definitely used Transformation and Illumination since the beginning.

Lift: Definitely used Progression and Abrasion from the beginning.

Jasnah: Hard to say whether her initial encounter with Ivory involved Transportation or Transformation, and we don't really see her progress, so we don't have enough evidence there.

Renarin: Definitely used Progression since the beginning. If his visions are his version of Illumination, then he's used that since the beginning too (The countdown that started early in WoR).

It appears to be different for every Order, and maybe even for each person in the Orders, perhaps depending on how their Oaths progress and how ready they are for them, maybe even affected by the spren.

It appears rigid for the Skybreakers, where you can only get to use Division after you choose a master (I believe that's the second oath, but might be the third, I don't remember). Lift seems to have access to all of her surges, and it's unclear if Renarin has access to Illumination yet. Kaladin has access to the blended shenanigans of both his surges, but I don't recall if we've seen him use just Cohesion (is that was he did to stick the rock to the wall in Sig's training, or is that also a Lashing? Is there technically a difference?).

Kaladin uses gravitation and Adhesion, and he's used both since the start. Lift has both. Shallan has both, though she strongly favors one.

Jasnah at least only seemed to use Soulcasting to start. Szeth didn't have Division until the third oath, so we haven't seen him use it yet. And Renarin... Renarin is quite possibly something else all together.

It seems to vary by order.
