fourandahalf
I'm a big Brandon Sanderson fan and I've read all of the Cosmere books and currently working on the Wheel of Time. I can usually get the very basic Cosmere references and stuff and I think "Wow that's a lot of stuff" and I come on here and it's like everyone knows the entire history of the cosmere just by everything that's already happened and what Brandon's said.... how do I make my own connections while reading and how do I put the basic elements of the Cosmere together to create a more complete picture
Karger he/him
If you have a set of specific questions then posting them here will get you answers in a few hours. The coppermind is also a great source for this. Rereads and annotations are both good as they explain how things are put together and many of Brandon Sanderson's best fans work on them. Also double cheack and make sure you have read everything Cosmere did not come togeather for me until I had read the Arcanum Unbound short stories collection. If you want a cosmere history crash course just say so and plenty of people will be happy to help.
Ushumgallu he/him
The Cosmere is extremely complex, but the bare-bones basics are that long ago, on the planet Yolen, within the dwarf galaxy known as the Cosmere, the deity/force (nobody knows) Adonalsium was broken, in an event known as the Shattering, into sixteen Shards of immense power, each taken up by a mortal, who Ascended to near-godhood via their power. These Shards of Adonalsium are the sources of the many magic systems in the Cosmere, and often play a large role in later works in any given series set in the Cosmere. Within the Cosmere are Shardworlds, planets visited by the Shards of Adonalsium, and most of Sanderson's Cosmere works are set on them. Lots of other users can explain it better than I can, and the Coppermind is a great resource. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Cosmere

T8* he/him
Welcome to the shard! One piece of advice... don't take any baked goods of questionable origin. I struggle with your same problem. I have found that writing questions and theories down and exploring them here really helps. There is usually a thread or something that is already discussing the questions you have.

I back what this person says. I'm the only person you can trust to give you safe baked goods. Especially don't take it if the person's user is @beantheboy12. He's one of the ones you can't trust. beantheboy12 he/him
@Invocation is just jealous that I have cookies. They're very tasty And sometimes persuasive And Invocation doesn't even know how they taste! Tell you what, come to the happy inquisitor a restaurant (See forum, Role Playing) And I'll cook you up some nice good cookie waffle stew!

The Odd Job Tavern (Role Playing Forum, Alleyverse) has much better cookies than anything he can offer.

Edit: I think it's time this stopped, though, before it gets too out of hand. Edited March 1, 2019 by Invocation
