Dan kept rolling and smiling. He hadn't felt this happy in a long time.

He bit his lip, trying not to fall over. He smiled at the crazy man, then slipped, squeaking and faceplanting into the other man's face. He managed to catch himself with his arms before He actually crashed into him, but it wasn't in time to stop contact between their skin. Specifically, their lips. He froze mind stuttering to a stop from shock and embarrassment, a blush spreading across his face as he stared wide-eyed at Dan. He couldn't make himself move, his muscles frozen into their positions at just how embarrassed, shocked, awkward, and confused he suddenly felt.

Oh holy... geez... Dan tried to move his arms to shove Shae back, but he couldn’t conjure to focus to do so.

Shae couldn't think, not in any meaningful way at least. Not until Dan moved under him. He suddenly found himself scrambling away on instinct, backing up and gasping for breath as he tried to process what had just happened and where the danger was.

Dan scrambled to sit up, blushing red as blood all over his face. Oh Sisters. I just kissed him. Well, uh, more like he fell on top of me and kissed me, but what if he’s not gay? Why do I care if he’s not gay? What’s the deal with me? “I’m sorry,” he mumbled to Shae. “I’m sorry.”

He blushed, Shaking his head vigorously. "N-no! No! It's... It's fine. It wasn't your fault, I mean... I probably should've just scratched your ears... and the roof is slanted, and... I was probably going to fall over eventually so..." He didn't know what to say or what to do. He'd just accidentally kissed Dan! He hesitated, mentally wondering why that thought hadn't been completely panicked, and why he was feeling that weird warmth in his chest again. Why was life so confusing...

Dan had no idea what the point Shae was making was supposed to be, but his face was still completely red, and his ears were pressed way back on his head. "I don't really, uh," Dan mumbled, "I don't know what I'm supposed to-- should I just take you back to the dorms?"

Shae hesitated. "Um... sure? That... I'd be grateful... but, I'll see you tomorrow to help with the pots... right?" He was more concerned about that job than the awkwardness. Besides... he didn't want to lose his best friend because of some accident- he'd just... ignore it! Pretend it never happened and they were still just friends who hadn't kissed. Yeah... that would work...

"Um, okay," Dan said, standing up and shrugging. Why was he still embarrassed? Why was he embarrassed at all?

Shae cleared his throat. "S-so... next time, when I rub your belly, can we not do it on a sloped roof?" He chuckled, managing to smile through the awkwardness.

[Sherlock Holmes he/him]

"Y-yeah," Dan stuttered. Great, now he was stuttering. Okay, looking at Shae's smile kinda made his heart stop for a half-second, so that might be why he wasn't getting his words out right. "Can you stand up, so I can pick you up." That's just the greatest wording, ain't it.

He nodded, having intentionally turned his naivety up to eleven for the moment. "Sure." He stood, smiling and waiting for Dan to carry him back to his room. He almost like a child when he put it that way...

I'm right out of upvotes (and I've only spent them on this thread for the last two days). 

Dan picked up Shae, digging his claws into the roof to avoid falling over, then jumped off the roof and flew back down to the dorms, in front of the door that was closest to Shae's room. He set down Shae down and said, "You're okay, right?" He was worried that Shae would've been scared of how fast he'd been flying... but Shae was a tough little human...

Shae blinked, having been stunned by the speed and retaining that a little. "Uh... y-yeah... you sure can move fast..." He grinned, chuckling.

Shae blushed, hesitantly hugging him back. "Um... I... I'll see you tomorrow?" He bit his lip, smiling slightly.

Oh Sisters, WHY DID I DO THAT. "Yeah, I'll see you." He let go of Shae and backed away a few feet, blushing furiously despite his greatest efforts towards calming his face. He saluted Shae, for some reason, then hastily flew up to the roof, not looking back at Shae even though he really wanted to, and landed in his nest on the roof, collapsing forward into the straw and sticks.

Shae stared for a moment, trying to process that. Had... had he just been saluted? He shook it off, heading quickly inside and to his room, stripping off his shirt and laying down in the bed. He fell asleep quickly, dreams still going over what had happened and trying to make sense of this sudden mess.

Dan curled up in his nest and furled his wings in over his back. That is like the gayest thing I've done since I last kissed my old boyfriend... oh moons... He fell asleep after what felt like forever, still thinking about Shae.

Week-long timeskip, for the fans. 

Dan flew to the roof of the school, envisioning the blueprints he'd memorized of the place, then landed on one part of the roof above the art room with a skylight in it, and knocked on the glass. He'd already checked and seen that Shae wasn't in his room, or pretty much anywhere else, but he just really didn't want to have to walk in those hallways again. 

It had been a week since the thing had happened, and he and Shae had started being comfortable around each other again, finally. They'd worked on pottery for a few hours twice on different days, and Dan had flown Shae around once, though they hadn't talked much during that. Now Dan had a new idea of how to break the tension.

Shae jumped, snapping awake and looking around in a mild panic before he realized exactly what he'd heard- that had been the distinct sound of Dan's claws on the skylight. Well... distinct to him after he'd memorized it. He looked up, then hummed, heading outside. He couldn't blame Dan for not wanting to go inside- it wasn't that big of a deal to him anyways. It meant he got to be outside in the sun. He smiled, waiting for his friend to come down.

Dan jumped down next to Shae and smiled nervously. "Hi. I was wondering, um, you said that you can fight and I can too, so could we, uh...?"

Osla woke up to memory, horrible memory, painful memory.  He woke up anyway.  Osla was getting old, he could feel it in his bones, but his holy mission could not be stopped. Peace must be made, else all will come to ruin.
