The new shades obviously retain some things from their past. (MC’s mom shade never attacks her) The new cognitive shadow’s Perception (capital P for a reason here) could easily influence how it acts.

That’s true but I think Oltux’s point is that there still needs to be an underlying cause since the first shades weren’t influenced by perception. And if the original shades were already bound by the rules, then why wouldn’t subsequent shades also be bound for whatever reason? I think their point was that it’s superfluous for perception to be a factor that perpetuates the 3 rules.
