The right time to reread Warbreaker ...

... is right after reading Oathbringer and rediscovering just how much of a useless mess Vivenna was in WB.

It's a surreal experience, WB-Vivenna and "Azure" are so, so different. I find myself constantly yelling at her in WB because the she acts is just so stupid. Even though it's not really her fault that she doesn't know crem about the real world beyond Idris.

Also, I had totally forgotten just how sweet Siri and Susebron are when they get to know each other and start communicating. *-*

And, well, Lightsong is still as delightful as I remember him being.

And I'm not even halfway through yet!

Yeah, re-reading Warbreaker after reading Words of Radiance and Oathbringer has some nice payoffs like that.

There's also the touch about how Vasher ties a rope around his waist in a specific way, wrapped around him several times, to form his "characteristic belt", before beginning his sword dueling with Denth.

When Kaladin first meets him as Zahel, he's dressed in brown ardent's robes but with a non-ardent-regulation full head of hair, and a rope tied around him several times... I also wondered if there was link with with Dalinar's story to Kadash in Oathbringer about his sword master teaching him to wrap a belt around himself multiple times, which he had learned from imitating his master, and it turns out that was because his master's master had been so short that the typical Alethi belt was too long for him.

I know that can't also be Vasher, but since we know that Vasher and others of the Five Scholars had come to Roshar early on (before the Manywar), where they learned about Shardblades, and that Denth and Arsteel were master duelists surpassing him in ability. It stands to reason that they learned and applied Rosharan dueling forms, and maybe also a a particular multiple-pass form of rope-belt-tying.

I totally forgot about the rope thing in WoR ... and I didn't know about Vasher coming to Roshar in the past!

I just finished Warbreaker a few hours ago. It was againa  great ride and I'm still amazed at the long way Vivenna has come. At the beginning, I couldn't have imagined to ever like her.

I think my mind literally exploded when Szeth picked up the sword and it said "Hello. Would you like to destroy some evil today?". I actually had to put the book down and walk it off.

That was the funny part. Back when I first read WoR in 2015, Warbreaker had already been too long ago so I absolutely had no memory of Nightblood. It took the forums to make me realize and remember. Originally, I was just like "huh what's this sword?"

I literally shouted out loud, "Hey! That's NIGHTBLOOD!"

Which got me some strange looks on the NYC subway I was riding at the time.

I'm about 1/3 through my first reading of Warbreaker - loving it so far.  All caught up on SA, so cool to see Azure before she was Azure.  Does Hoid make an appearance in WB that I should be looking out for???  I'm confident I know what to look for, but equally confident that Brandon will throw a curveball.

He will be introduced as Hoid, so it's kinda hard to miss him ;)

Yeah, you'll see him. He's introduced as Hoid and he is doing what Hoid does best.
