John Flamesinger he/him Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 (edited) Ok, so, we know that Nightblood has the ability to cut through anything, like a shardblade. We also know that Nightblood has been Awoken. Could it be possible to awaken a Shardblade? Like, not a an actively bonded blade, a dead one or an Honorblade. Edited December 19, 2018 by Chaos
0 Calderis he/him Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 No. It's already too alive. Quote Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Can you awaken a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Can you Awaken a Shardblade? A Shardblade would already be defined as Awakened, by the magic systems. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] And what about the Plate? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Plate would already be defined as probably too heavily Invested to Awaken because it already is. source
0 Wandering Investor Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 In theory, with enough investiture, you can do anything. In practice, it wouldn't work. Investiture resist investiture. So something as concentrated as a shard blade would be almost impossible to affect.
0 RShara she/her Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 They can't be at all, actually. Quote Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] If you were to try and Awaken a dead Shardblade with Awakening, like you can with a metal sword, would that be possible, or what would happen? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] That would probably not work. Not probably. That would just not work. source
0 Quantus he/him Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Well, if they cannot be awakened because they are already alive, can they hold Breaths like a person and maybe get Heightening-esk enhancements? Especially if they're granted Breathes while in Shadesmar (where hemalurgy will work on them).
