Hi, I'm new, obviously. I hope to make at least a few friends here that are as in love with Brandon's work as much as I am (I have a strange suspicion there are quite a few of those here).

"Brandon"? Never heard of him. We mainly discuss higher mathematics, the nature of identity, and dingoes here. ;)

But nice to meet you!

Ain't that the truth? :D

Erudas, you have something against Returned, or have you not read Warbreaker yet? If you haven't I highly recommend you do. :)

And be sure, there are many many Brandon fanatics around here (Branatics?). Enjoy geeking out around here!

Wander around on Brandon's site and you should find Warbreaker for free. Elantris is awesome also, but make sure to follow it up with the Emperor's Soul which I put off reading until just recently, and found it quite enjoyable.

And welcome!

I might have to check it out then. Just trying to finish The Rithmatist, and the last two Mistborn books before that, and I'm also writing a book so I don't have a lot of time, lol.

"Branatics" <--- THIS. Love it. Have an upvote, Delightful.

Welcome, Erudas! I'm new here too. What kind of book are you writing?

Same as Brandon. After 3 years of brainstorming, I think I have a new kind of story :P

Ooh, can we hear the pitch?

Maybe when I get a little further in production :P I think I'm going to try publishing it to TOR too

I wish you the best of luck and success! I'd love to be published too one day, once I've actually written something half-way decent. :)

Thanks a lot :D and I completely understand. It took me forever to figure something new out.

Nevermind original, my only work of decent length actually makes no sense. At all. The characters are flat, the plot boring, the setting barely existent.....I need to write more. Good luck with yours :)

At least you write... I have pages and pages of science-fiction worldbuilding, and have spent countless hours researching alternative biochemistry, but I have not a single word of prose to show for it.

I have the opposite problem, I just jumped into writing with almost no planning and made a mess of it. :/

#writerproblems :)

Is it just me, or do author-based fandoms have a disproportionately large number of writers? Or do I just notice the writers more?

It does seem plausible enough. Maybe aspiring writers are more inclined to read, or good works of literature inspire writers? There's an interesting "correlation vs causation" debate to be had there.

Especially if you take into account, for example, that I found my way to Sanderson and to here through writing excuses, though that seems to be the minority of "sanderson discovery stories".

Also, anyone who wants to write needs to read, so theres definitely that too. I don't really know other fandoms well to really compare though.
