  1. I thought the same thing
  2. I'm so glad I'm not the only one in the "Kaladin is not white" camp... THANK you.
  3. There's Renarin love out there alright: http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/blend.html?blend=53064 Sounds yummy
  4. I'm so glad someone else brought this possibility up! In another thread I joked about Adolin becoming Renarin's squire, but as I read the carefully thought out replies (heehee) explaining why that probably wouldn't happen, I actually thought, well why couldn't Adolin become someone else's squire? At first I thought maybe Kaladin, but the obvious choice *would* be Dalinar. After all, Adolin is ALREADY emulating his father and being mentored by Dalinar. Why not? I don't buy the theory that Adolin is on his way to KR-hood just yet either. I would actually be a little disappointed if he became a KR in the next book. That seems to easy and it seems like Adolin has a lot he needs to grow through first. Do to get me wrong, I think Adolin is really cool, but he has some major challenges ahead and the way he navigates them will be very important in the next book/s. And I still think Adolin may turn to the dark side.
  5. Hmmm, I hadn't noticed the fail-fail-win pattern before, so I didn't think about it that way but maybe you are right. I was seeing only a very dark or at least very difficult future ahead for Adolin. I still haven't ruled out the possibility of him turning. I think there is a very strong chance that he will turn. I would like to see Renarin definitively rescuing Adolin.
  6. So, I posted this topic whilst on my mobile and thought that I was posting it under the WoR discussion. Sorry all! How do I go about requesting it be moved? I have a lot of replies and thoughts but I currently have a toddler driving a car on my arm and begging to go for a walk so I will hopefully figure this out after bedtime! Thanks for being gracious!
  7. That was... A really cool article... I just shared it on Facebook! Thanks!
  8. First topic/ theory. Hopefully I did everything right. Two possible paths I foresee for Renarin regarding his relationship with Adolin: 1. Becomes an awesome Knight. Adolin is his squire. ^ this is what I *want* to see happen. Alas, this is what I think will actually happen: 2. Renarin becomes an awesome knight and foresees his brother going down an evil path and has to choose between his family and his oaths. What do you guys think? Maybe a combination of the two? Any other ideas? Anyone else get a feeling of impending doom waiting for Adolin?
  9. Overall, I think he just gets overshadowed by the other characters and by all the fast paced action. I know when I read the books I really felt pulled to finish faster and missed some things, though I did think Renarin's character was intriguing. In future books I think he will be in the spotlight more.
  10. Could it be both? Maybe it *was* a noble sacrifice of the spren involved, from their point of view, but the other spren believed they were forced/coerced/brainwashed? It would be hard for a human parent to not place blame in a similar situation. Think of parents of fallen soldiers who become disillusioned with or blame the government/military for their child's death.
  11. That's a good question. Going by the Stormlight Archive alone, I would have my doubts about the theory, but it seems to be a theme in other Cosmere books. I'm still undecided on the matter.
  12. Proud mama moment. My son (1 1/2 years old) just announced, "Like it, sticks!"
  13. But I'll give you all the nasty Samoas if you give me all the Thin Mints... So WHY would we fight???
  14. I'm American (Mexican-American is what I consider my heritage) from Texas, currently residing in Florida.
  15. This is awesome! Thanks!!! Is there any significance to zucchini or is it just fun?
  16. Don't you mean your sister??? Isn't the only truly true true love familial?! *cracks* *attracts a spren*
  17. "Branatics" <--- THIS. Love it. Have an upvote, Delightful. Welcome, Erudas! I'm new here too. What kind of book are you writing?
  18. Thanks! His name means Defender of Mankind who Carries the Heavens. You're welcome to it if the character is sufficiently awesome. As for the job, you'd be surprised at what you can do if you keep trying long enough. Also if surgeons are yelling at you to hurry up because the patient wants to not have a hole in them anymore. I KID! Only one of the surgeons ever yells at us.
  19. Hi, my name is Natalie and I've been a Brandon Sanderson fan for several years now, started with the Mistborn trilogy and just recently read Warbreaker, WoK and WoR. What else.... I'm married to a wonderful, honorable man who is a creative and technical genius and also happens to play electric guitar (HOT), we have a beautiful 1 1/2 year old boy named Atlas Alexander. I am a MOHs histotechnician, which means I work in a sort of stat surgical lab where we help skin cancer patients, it's exhilarating and high-stress and bloody and I love it. And I love coming home to my family at the end of the day and then when everything has been taken care of...lately I've been loving to totally geek out on all things Cosmerian, so here I am!
