Slimy_Slider Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 So just an idea I had recently. I was wondering, could a radiant switch around the functions of their shardblade and shardplate? Using their spren to manifest as armour while wielding another weapon? The Shardblade armour wouldn't cover the same area as a full set of Plate, but it should be able to move itself around to block incoming attacks and has so far been shown as basically indestructible. It doesn't have the enhancement effects of plate, but it could still be used in conjunction as an extra layer of armour to provide greater protection. It'll be interesting to see how the next generation of Radiants experiments with different uses of the Blade and Plate. 1

I think if Kaladin thought of Syl as wrapping around him in a shard-layer she'd be able to do it. The only thing that might prevent it would be the restrictions of Plate being something obtained by the 4th Oath. Syl may not be able to step into a role that is specifically reserved.
CrazyRioter she/her Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 They can't be in more then one piece and the metal isn't very flexible so you couldn't really do full armour because you wouldn't be able to move. A chestplate or some forms o helmet might work though.

Simultaneously armor and weapon, no restriction on movement because you just punch things. Plus I'm dying to see someone run around with proto-knuckle dusters that sever souls. Bigmikey357 he/him Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Proto knuckle-dusters that sever souls? That just made me smile. Sounds good until you go up against a conventional Radient. Any weapons you use gets severed by your opponent's blade. No offensive capability.
