Hey, Im artur from Canada (no it's not really, but my trust is not something easily earned <_< ). Im going into grade 12 this year. I, like most people Ive talked to, stumbled upon Brandon's works because of WoT, and fell in nerd love. The Way of Kings is my favorite (other that the Gathering Storm, but does that really count?) I still think about the ending of the Mistborn trilogy pretty much daily, even though I finished it a couple months ago.

Aside from that, I like Curling (I teach it to young children once a week), anime (Lelouch vi Brittania is pretty much my hero), TV shows (always liked them more than movies, watching Breaking Bad right now), and strategy video games (Civilization and Fire Emblem are my favorite series'). Next year Im planning on going to university and taking computr sciences, and i am currently working on a novel (Im 5 chapters in, but all my chapters are really long, average 10'000 words) and Im really excited about it.

Im a nerdfighter (DFTBA), and an all around seeker of knowledge of all kinds. For what it's worth, I belong to the Catholic church, but I prefer to practice and interpret the Bible in my own way (I haven't actually read through the threads here yet, just got linked to this site through Brandon's blog, so I don't know if religion is something that is generally talked about, or more tabooed like in other forums). Surprisingly enough, I haven't read Elantris yet, getting around to it though, I assure you.

I have had troubles finding a forum that I can activly participate in other than an out-of-the-way dragonmount one, but Im excited to give this one a shot. Lets see how it goes.

See y'all around

Welcome! Mentioning religion (and politics) usually isn't a problem on most forums, but discussion of it tends to be relegated to a heavily-moderated subforum. I don't remember anything specific about religion on the rules here, but one of the admins is sure to be around to welcome you and can shed some light on that.

French the llama! A Nerd Fighter! I do some of that here and there, but (as with most things) I lurk a lot. Have you finished Brotherhood 2.0? All 700+ videos on the channel? Favorite brother? Favorite video?

I think you'll find the crowd here to be plenty jokes.

Thanks for the welcome. Im pretty sure that Ive seen all the 2.0 videos, though I cant say that I have a favorite. The one where Jonh excessively head desks comes to mind. If I had to pick, Id say that Jonh is my favorite, being an author and all...

I mention the religion thing because sometimes it makes people uncomfortable, in my experiance at least, and Id hate to be a downer :(

Welcome to the site! I think the non Mormons are definitely in the minority here! I was raised Catholic myself, in Catholic schools no less. I prefer not to talk about religion/politics to much because people become way to emotionally involved instead of logical.

Welcome to 17th Shard! I'm KChan, one of the aforementioned admins. As of right now we don't have a specific place to discuss religion, and I can't say for sure if we ever will. However, we welcome anyone who wants to be a part of our community, regardless of their personal faith, and if you want to tell us what you believe - like you just did - that is perfectly fine. For the time being, though, if you want to have a deeper discussion about religion, I would recommend taking it to PM, IM, etc.

Also, since we're on the topic, half of my family is Catholic, but I guess you could call me more of a generic Christian since I don't really claim a denomination.

I don't know about that. That's not true about the staff, at least. Though there is a significant Mormon population, I think non-Mormons still are the majority. This could change with the massive influx of people from TWG.

I agree with Kerry--I don't think we will have a dedicated forum for topics like that. I, for one, am perfectly okay with discussing religion, and I think our members are cool and intelligent enough to have discussions about it. However, I know the last time I wanted to post a topic on religion (though it could've been politics), other members didn't want it, because they didn't want the extra conflict.

So, hi! I'm Eric, the forum administrator, and the self-appointed theorymaster. You'll see me around a lot. And while we're on the subject of admitting religious preferences, I'm agnostic. Though, like LDS members, I'd love to tell you all about it! You probably don't want that, however. Have you seen how long my theory threads get? :P

(You know, you kind of defeat the purpose of hiding your name when you post your real name on the Google+ thread ;) )

Don't let Chaos fool you; his long posts are awesome.

The members of TWG seemed to be about 1/3 Mormon, if not less. Besides, I've enjoyed the majority of conversations I've had with forum-going Mormons about religion. They seem to be very good at accepting other views even if they don't agree with them (up to a certain point). Partially because it's part of their religion, and partially because their religion isn't well accepted by the more established religions.

Most people that participate in these forums are cool, interesting people no matter what their religion is, so I wouldn't worry about that kind of thing too much. I really like this (and TWG, RIP) community because there's a relatively small user base, but enough people to keep it lively. High fives all around!

People's religions on a forum like the are basically irrelevant in my not so humble opinion, as long as you don't make a huge issue of your religion I won't make an issue of it either. I'm a big believer in live and let live. But we've never had a problem with anybody causing trouble over religion here.

For the record, I'm an atheist.
