SzethIsBadAsHell
Although I don’t remember it ever being said in book . But what is the Penalty if a lighteyes gets so annoyed by the King’s With he pulls his blade and just kills him . When considering this point please don’t think I’m referring to Hoid. He is not the first King’s Wit and I’m sure he won’t be the last . But Wit is extremely offensive and annoying as hell. There must be some penalty if you kill him . Like loosing land , title , perhaps drop down a don level or two . Otherwise im sure Sadeas , Amaram and especially Jasnah would of tried to kill him a long time ago . Hoid is so bad he talked about Navani chull . It was so annoying I even wanted to stab him. I think the Wit is there to ridicule the lighteyes since normal Darkeyes can’t do anything to them . Kind of a way to keep them humble ! Anybody else agree there must be and understood penalty!
StrikerEZ
@SzethIsBadAsHell I can't remember the exact quote, but I think this exact scenario is mentioned at one of the feasts in WoK. There was a penalty to killing the King's Wit, which is why no one did it, but I can't remember what it was.

I bet it’s extremely severe , if it was just some infused brohams they would pay it and kill him lol
Calderis
Stripped of all lands and titles. Quote Killing the King’s Wit was legal. But by so doing, Sadeas would forfeit his title and lands. Most men found it a poor enough trade not to do it in the open. Of course, if you could assassinate a Wit without anyone knowing it was you, that was something different. The risk is fairly low due to the high cost of blatantly killing a Wit. Trying to do that to Hoid on the other hand...
