[OB] First Human's on Roshar

I don't know if anyone's thought of this before, but it came into my mind yesterday, so here it is.

What if the first humans on Roshar were actually refugee's from Scadrial, that came after the Lord Ruler made changes to their world.

I remember somewhere in the book it said that the first human's previous world was destroyed by Surgebinding, but maybe it was the Lord Ruler's changes that he made that caused them to think their world was destroyed.

Any thoughts?

@Daide @Wander89 The humans on Roshar (or at least the majority of them) are decended from immigrants from Ashyn, another planet in the Rosharan system.

A friend of mine wanted me to ask: Was the cataclysm that rocked Ashyn and forced its inhabitants into the flying cities Investiture-based, and if it was was it Shardic in nature?

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

The same cataclysm that the-- did you finish [Oathbringer]?

Questioner [PENDING REVIEW]

Yes.

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

The same cataclysm that they were fleeing, that they caused, is the one that forced people into the skies...

How many waves of human populations have migrated to Roshar? So I'm thinking the Ashynites coming from Ashyn, right? Was that just the only humans that ever came as a population?

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

It depends on if you count the Iriali?

Argent [PENDING REVIEW]

That's specifically the one I'm thinking of.

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

They came in a separate migration.

Argent [PENDING REVIEW]

Not from Ashyn?

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

Not from Ashyn.

Argent [PENDING REVIEW]

From whatever the Third Land was.

Also, welcome to the Shard Daide! You could go introduce yourself in the introductions section of the forum. Have you discovered Arcanum yet? It's this huge archive of WoBs (Words of Brandon, which are quotes from him), and it's truly mind blowing once you start exploring Arcanum and realize how much there is going on behind the scenes.

I think the timelines are widely apart.

I don't know specific years but I'm fairly certain TLR's rise to power happened about 2000 years before current day in the stormlight archive, but we know that the first humans to arrive on roshar had to arrive at least several thousand years ago maybe tens of thousands of years ago.

I do however think it likely there were refugees that settled on roshar from scadrial.

As Cal said.

We know that Mistborn Era 2 happens after SA 5.

Era 2 is about 350 years after Era 1.

Era 1 is 1023 years after TLR Ascended.

Aharietiam happened 4500 Rosharan years ago (almost 5000 cosmere standard). Humans on Roshar predate all of the events and books that we've seen so far, so the timeline doesn't work out, sorry.

Worldhopping isn't a gene or a trait. Anyone can do it with the right knowledge and/or power. And yes, all the humans on Roshar are descended from worldhoppers, since they didn't originate/get created on Roshar.
