+Slowswift Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Every power of two is a rep change. Someone else spotted it a while back. Ah, thanks!
Young Bard he/him Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Considering how many people are in the 1-500 range... Alas! Puny mortals, I have surpassed you. I have transcended the planes of mediocrity, to be a being of a greater than average rep count! Weep before my utter glory! 1
Chaos he/him Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Is there something significant about the number 32,768? It is a power of 2, of course. (And sixteen.)
Young Bard he/him Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) It is a power of 2, of course. (And sixteen.) I don't think it is a power of 16, actually. That's 65,536. It is, however, a power of 8. Edited December 8, 2015 by The Young Bard
Titan Arum Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 It is, however, divisible by 16...which may be another clue. But the real clue, in my opinion, is the power of 16. I think the next big rep title change will be at 65,536. 16^1 == 16 (Noble-Blooded) 16^2 == 256 (Misting) 16^3 == 4,096 (Dawnshard) 16^4 == 65,536 ... (Your guess is as good as any) 16^5 == 1,048,576 ... At this point, though, it's worth nothing that the 2^x system has been broken with 2^14, thus I don't think it's correct. I would have understood if it broke after 2^16...but it didn't. For the 2^x system to be true we would have expected Kobold King to change from God Beyond at 16,384 = 2^14. This obviously didn't happen. I don't know if it's coincidence, but (2^n)*16 has a similar pattern, that also breaks at 16,384 with (2^10)*16. In some instances, the number 10 is important in the Cosmere, but if that were a clue we'd expect it to have broken at (2^11)*16, wouldn't we? Anyway, here is how the (2^x)*16 pattern plays out: (2^1)*16 == 32 (Ardent) (2^2)*16 == 64 (Obligator) (2^3)*16 == 128 (Hazekiller) (2^4)*16 == 256 (Misting) ... (2^9)*16 == 8,192 (The Broken One) (2^10)*16 == 16,384 ... (No Title Change...why?) (2^11)*16 == 32,768 (2^12)*16 == 65,5536 (2^13)*16 == 131,072 (2^14)*16 == 262,144 ... 1

Young Bard he/him Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 It's almost as if the old rep system has an upper bound! This is it. They had an old one, then they had new ones when the old ones were reached. They didn't bother between 10 and 25+ thousand, because Kobold had achieved / was very close to achieving that anyway.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This is it. They had an old one, then they had new ones when the old ones were reached. They didn't bother between 10 and 25+ thousand, because Kobold had achieved / was very close to achieving that anyway. Yeah. But noted, the rep levels were changed a day or two before Kobold joined. 1

Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 He is a math professor. Making it very likely he majored in math! Or am I misunderstanding how American higher education works? 2

skaa he/him Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 And for those who haven't seen reputation level 1337, it was "So 1337 Hoid Can't Compete". Thanks guys. I can type normally now.
Titan Arum Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 skaa, your post made me realize I'm getting close to that same rep level too! I hope I am online when it happens. Once we hit that level, we're no longer n00b5, are we? 5

I've been like the watchful shepherd, guiding you both through the perils of the Shard, from theories to secret societies. Understandably, I'm a little proud right now. *wipes away a single, manly tear*
