I need book #3!  Then I read on wikipedia that it wont be released until late 2016!?  I finished Words of Radiance recently and never before this Stormlight Archive have I been so desperate to get the next book.  I'm still thinking about that book days after I've finished it.  I'm new to this site, I stumbled across it while searching for answers.  Perhaps it will help keep me sane until book 3 is released.

I love nerd books (fantasy books), and am always looking for a new series to read.  My mom met Brandon Sanderson at a signing at some book store when he first released Mistborn.  She bought me the book for Christmas (she has a tradition that she buys us all a book for Christmas, an effort to get her kids into reading) and said something like "There was some nerdy guy signing books at the store.  I've never heard of him but he sure did a good job convincing me to buy his book"  She also mentioned how weird the story sounded.  The Mistborn series quickly became #1 on my list, only to replaced by The Way of Kings a few years later.  There's no author that has nearly as many books on my favorites list as he does (as well as holding spots #1 & #2).  I've read everything he has released and have enjoyed every one of them.

Now what do read until book #3 is released?  Any suggestions?

Welcome to the 17th Shard!

my suggestion is to re-read everything he's written in between new publishing's! But not to worry, I'm sure we'll get a couple of short stories and a novella or more this year if past years are anything to go by that are surprises!

if you've never read Brent Weeks, he is great (and Brandon recommends him as well).

Other thing to do is start perusing these forums and salivating over minuscule clues like the rest of us!

Have you figured out the Cosmere yet?

I've been doing a lot of searching on this site the past few days.  I was given a hint about Hoid a year or two ago from my brother and had been looking for clues as I read.  I'm thinking of reading through all of the Cosmere books again now that I have learned a lot more.  I cant believe how much thought Mr. Sanderson has put into his works, that guy is on a level of creativity that I cant comprehend.

I actually just heard the name of Brent Weeks today, I might have to give him a shot.  Thanks for the suggestion.  It's been a been a few years since I've read Warbreaker, after the Words of Radiance ending I might have to reread it.

I've read The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear, they were both good.  I'm waiting for #3 in that series as well, although I dont think that wait will be quite as hard as that of next Stormlight Archive.

I was just gonna say.... If you're not wanting to wait, don't read Patrick Rothfuss. I've been waiting for book 3 for forever. I don't know that I believe him that book 3 is written already.

From what I've heard he said he's working on the next Rithmaster book then Stormlight 3 (Stones Unhollowed?) so it might be out in 2015 if we're lucky.

It is very nice to have the progress bar on brandonsanderson.com. My 8 year old is anxiously awaiting Firefight while i'll be continually checking on the progress of the 3rd Stormlight archive book. I think one of us will be driven mad (or more mad) with the wait.

Pat goes literally through hundreds of revisions before publishing, let's cut him some slack :) Exceptional prose is more difficult than exceptional plots.

Well put sir, well put. The only caveat that I would add, "Beautiful prose" is more difficult to craft than exceptional plots. I would argue that the transparency of Sanderson's prose makes it exceptional as well.

I've got nothing against Rothfuss. Loved his books as well. However, I would be extremely happy to have that 3rd book right now.
