Quote Questioner On the nature of shardblades, to an extent, can a live blade be split without harming it's source, so to speak? Brandon Sanderson Can a live blade split? What do you mean, split? Questioner Make itself into two weapons. Brandon Sanderson Oh, can a blade be forged into two weapons. A shardblade. Questioner Does it absolutely need a connection, or can it become two? Brandon Sanderson So, shardblades becoming two shardblades would require slicing in half a soul, which would not be very fun for the spren. Okay? Questioner So it's possible. *laughter* Brandon Sanderson So it's technically possible to take hydrogen and to turn it into plutonium with our current technology. It would cost more money than, like, the budget of NASA to do it for, y'know, one atom. So there are things that are possible, but-- Yes it is possible. This is not something that would be easy or very useful to do. source
Gasper he/him Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 I want to see a Bridge Four MegaZord or Jager fighting a thunderclast. Kaladin as the Head, Rock as the body and Lopen as either the fist or worse: the hips. Dance battle time!
Weltall Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 (edited) As noted, a spren can't change into anything requiring multiple parts without getting their soul split into pieces and they wouldn't like that very much, so things like guns are right out. Even bows require at least two parts (three once you include the arrow) and we know that historical Radiants who were archers carried separate bowstrings and arrows. However, a 'Fabrial Gun' seems like it's the sort of thing that could be developed eventually. We know that all of the Surges can be replicated mechanically Quote Argent (paraphrased) Fabrials replicate Soulcasting abilities. Is it possible for fabrials to replicate all such Surgebinding abilities? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes, good question! Fabrials can replicate all of the Surgebinding abilities. source So, imagine a fabrial shaped like a hollow tube that can carefully manipulate Gravitation to perform a Basic Lashing on an object placed within it, launching that object really really fast out the open end of the tube. What do you have? Magical railgun. Edited June 22, 2018 by Weltall
Gasper he/him Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 what about combining shard plate. The current best guesses are that it is a bunch of lesser spren, so why couldn't it combine to make other stuff? 1
Destinybladez Posted June 23, 2018 Author Posted June 23, 2018 then how about a combination of multiple spren for such complex machines like say a car
CrazyRioter she/her Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 That would require some ridiculously tricky co-ordination.

What do you have? Magical railgun. Throw in some pressure reduction and you have bullets that could go faster than sound to an outside observer; but have none of the complications of actually breaking the sound barrier. They would probably be pretty devastating. Biggest issue I can see is that it might require the ammunition to be a fabrial too.
