I was rereading oathbringer and thought of a couple questions

1) if you habe watter in a barrel what would that look like in Shadesmar

2) The land. We think of a country solid as a country but at the same time as the separate provinces, towns, or land formations what would the sphere for that look like

3) ice has a sphere, if a body of water freezes what happens to it in Shadesmar

A barrel of water would just be a bead. My theory on the land/sea inversion is because on land, people all see separate objects around them--rocks, dirt, shoes, boots, castles, tents, buildings, etc etc etc. So each of them has a bead. When people look and think of the ocean or a lake, they think of it as a singular thing, so it's solid.

The land itself I don't think would have separate beads for countries. It's just the ocean of beads of objects that are on it.

If a body of water freezes, and there are people who put things on it or build on it, it would slowly accumulate beads as well. But if it's something that will melt every year, then I don't think it'll be solid for long enough to make a difference in its Cognitive representation.

I am inclined to think this as well, although I have been confused as to what extent different beads can represent parts of the same thing.  When Shallan and company are sent to Shadesmar, and she is trying to find a bead that they can solidify and stand on to escape the platform, she grabs one bead that represents the entire palace of Kholinar.  So... is there one bead that represents the palace, and another bead that represents each room within that palace, and more beads to represents the turrets and the flagpoles and the doorknobs and everything else inside the palace?  My guess would be yes, because people view the objects within the palace individually (so they would each have their own sphere), even though they also view the objects as part of a larger whole.

But then the question is raised... how large of an object can a bead represent?  If there is a bead for the palace, could there be a bead for the entire city of Kholinar?  It makes sense that there would be, since people view both the palace and the city as single objects (albeit with smaller objects inside of them).  And if there is a bead for the capital city, could there also be a bead for the entire country of Alethkar?  My guess is no, because I think that if people view something as an object, then it has a bead in Shadesmar, but people don't view Alethkar as an object, but rather as an expansive region and location.  Yes, the palace is also a location, you could say, but it is much closer to being an "object" than the entire country of Alethkar is - although the separation of "object" versus "location" does become fuzzy, think, when you include objects as large as the palace.

I'm not sure you would have beads for locations like Alethkar or even Kholinar. Those are strictly locations. The palace while large is still an object. It is more of a landmark than a general location. Now it is possible that the rooms in the palace can have a bead of their own as well. What matters is the object's perception of itself. A broken vase will still have one bead in Shadesmar right after being broken until the pieces began to think of themselves as individuals. I think there is a WoB out there about ingredients being made into a cake and how those essentially integrate into one bead. So the kitchen in Kholinar palace could view itself as a single thing because it could cognitively view everything in it as necessary for its purpose of being a kitchen. While the knives in a drawer have their own beads because they view themselves cognitively as individual objects with their own purposes. And the palace still has a view of itself and everything in it as THE Kholinar palace.

Along these lines, do we know what the Purelake looks like in Shadesmar?
