[OB spoilers] Why Surgebinding and Shard-blade and Plate are probably the most deadly form of investeture

I'm not saying that it can't be done, I'm saying that either you pull of a one hit KO, before a SPEED STORER notices or you pull off something like that, which as just noted takes a lot of stormlight.

So yes a steelrunner is not invulnerable, just generally the top of the food chain (except fullborn - fullborn are scary)

dude listen to RShara, stormlight and breaths are "easy" to use to power other magic, not the other way around.

To use allomancy to fuel surgebinding you'd have to:

a ) be a surgebinder

b ) be/have access to an allomancer

c ) co-opt the investiture from harmony when the allomancer tries to allomance

This is difficult

Also surgebinding is difficult to use off of Roshar, you have to be able to get the spren off world and then co-opt some-one elses investiture

It is easier to be an allomancer and find/buy some metal dust

damnation, didn't think about the spren, kinda voids my whole argument

Oh well guess I was wrong

I assume they could if they knew it was there, but given that they'll have to fight through the investiture of the living person in the first place, at that point, I think it'd be just as easy to simply soulcast the entire person.

Setting aside the question of portability, it honestly baffles me that people can read what Jasnah was doing at the end of Oathbringer and go yep a mistborn would definitely beat that. (Fullborn obviously are a different matter)

That really depends on unknown factors. Can a coppercloud block soulcasting? Can you leech through shard plate? What happens to the plate if you leech it? Does it lock up?

A coppercloud could probably stop the burner from being soulcasted. Shardplate can be dismissed, and if your that close, you get soulcastwed

If the fight takes a long time, the allomancer has an advantage. His reserves don't decay. The blade and perhaps the plate, however, work even without stormlight. So can allomancers block them? And the surgebinder is most unlikely to surprise a mistborn, as using stormlight is detectable with allomancy.

A stormlightless Shardbearer is an easy prey of an allomancer.

First of all he can't relly on the Plate so it's simple a Shardblade aganist a Mistborn. At this point you are fighting with a close range weapon aganist someone who could both overcome you in close and in far combact...this while keeping the distances. Rememeber also that in a brawl, a man in Shardplate (in function) and someone burning pewter are quite pair, do you really want to fight someone like that without physical enhancements ?
