StormingTexan he/him Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Anyone else feel like Brandon has spoiled us? I was just thinking about the fact there will not be a Cosmere book released this year (unless you count White Sands Volume 2 which I guess I should) and I got really sad. In comparison to other authors (I will not mention by name) in the genre Brandon is still publishing quality at a very quick pace. Still this will be this first year since 2005 that a Cosmere book will not be published . We were really spoiled in 2016 with 5 books being published. I'm not complaining I'm just sad. 8

Kind of sad but the consolation is that Brandon's books get better with successive readings. Who knows what trail of breadcrumbs of Cosmeric significance you'll find on your next trip through one of his series? Could have important speculative ramifications. I've only read the full Mistborn series once, so that is a deficiency that I plan to use the gap to rectify. Also, the new legion book is going to be coming out next year, that's a mighty fine series even though it's not in the Cosmere. 2
Angsos Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I also wouldn't put it past Brandon to accidentally write Lost Metal early or a cosmere novella. I'm not counting on it but then this is Brandon we're talking about. 4
Ammanas Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I feel like he has been quiet this year. Perhaps he is scheming up a surprise for us? To respond to the first post, I feel that if a author can publish a book a year then he is doing a great job. Brandon is getting older and his growing popularity makes new demands on his time. I think he has been the ubermensch, that Nietzche dreamed of, for so long we have gotten a bit spoiled. 1
RShara she/her Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 We are absolutely spoiled lol. I was thinking this just 2 days ago. We're also spoiled in the amount of information he gives us and how often he interacts with fans 3

I especially enjoyed the Mistborn re-read since it has been several years. 1

I don't even know how many rereads of the original mistborn trilogy I've done. Probably at least 10-15. 3
Weltall Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Oh yes, we're very spoiled. Just the pace with which Brandon releases new books is a huge treat, especially given certain authors I shall not name who've gone half a decade or more between releases... but their names might rhyme with Mynch and Lartin. Then factor in how awesome he is about engaging with his readers and that's another thing we're spoiled on. That all his books are really fun is another 'spoiled factor'; I've never minded much if they're not the ones I most want to see released because I've still enjoyed the hell out of them. When I finally got around to reading Rithmatist I made things worse for myself because now I'm firmly on the hype train of wanting that sequel too (along with every other sequel he's announced...) but I wouldn't have traded the experience of reading it for anything. xD 1
