This is my first post so I apologize if this has been talked about before. With heralds starting to be killed off, will there eventually be a need for people to fill the heralds'  spots on Braize?  Can Dalinar as Bondsmith, in a distant book, perhaps renew the oath pact or will they figure out how to end the desolations for good? Or maybe he will spend some time there until they figure out a fix. What better way to protect those who cannot protect themselves? Thoughts?

I think it is likely that something along those lines will occur.  It just seems convenient for the time skip that happens after book 5.

I feel like renewing the Oathpact is like the definition of insanity--doing the same thing and hoping for different results.  There's got to be a different/better solution.

At this point, the original Oathpact has essentially failed. I think a new strategy is needed to defeat Odium. So while it is certainly possible, perhaps even likely, that our heroes will spend some time on Braize, I do not think it will be because they have replaced the Heralds in a new Oathpact.

Perhaps they could take the fight directly to Odium, or embark on a mission to disrupt the mechanism by which the Fused return indefinitely.

My first thought is to say no, that won't happen, but on second thought, if that dagger really did steal Jezrien's power in that gem, and Kaladin were to use that gem to bond his honorblade, then that is a real possibility.

And it might even be something he could survive, if mentally scarred. He would have Jezrien's full power to back him up.

I don’t think a new oathpact is a long term solution, but it could be a temporary fix until a more permanent plan to defeat Odium is found. Perhaps our heroes are losing the battle by the end of book five, with masses of people dying across Roshar. The radiants and their allies may not yet be advanced enough in skill and number to defeat the agents of Odium. Dalinar, as a bondsmith, could forge a temporary oathpact to hold back Odium and his minions for a few years until the radiants grow in strength and number, and a more permanent plan is in place for Odium’s ultimate defeat. This plan could be the arc for the back five books. I think it would be interesting to see some action on Braize, though I don't love the idea of seeing any of our current radiants tortured.

I also think Kal will go to Braize, I remember Peter saying they had calculated how long it would take to reach the moons or something like that.Though I'm not sure that's the preferable way, may be elsecalling would be better than flying. However, I do not expect new Heralds to emerge and renew the Oathpact unless our heroes are really desperate and choose this option for the first five arch only to then try and think of a better solution in the second five. I won't say it's impossible, but unlikely.

For what it's worth, the Coppermind page for Braize says that "scenes from The Stormlight Archive will be set on Braize."

It could be just the memories of the Heralds, though. We already had Taln having glimpses of Damnation. While I'd expect more than that, I simply want to point out it's not necessary.
