JoyBlu she/her
WoR chapter 74 Striding the Storm Kaladin & Shallan survive the highstorm together in the Chasms. Quote He did feel a chill as she mentioned her brother Helaran’s death, anger in her voice. Helaran had been killed in Alethkar. At Amaram’s hands. Storms . . . I killed him, didn’t I? Kaladin thought. The brother she loved. Had he told her about that? No. No, he hadn’t mentioned that he’d killed the Shardbearer, only that Amaram had killed Kaladin’s men to cover up his lust for the weapon. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Did she realize? Had she inferred that Kaladin, not Amaram, had been the one to actually kill the Shardbearer? She didn’t seem to have made that connection. Then in OB chapter 27 Playing Pretend While in Urithiru Adolin tells Shallan that Kaladin was the one that killed her brother, the shardbearer, Helaran. Quote “Kaladin’s not going to like this,” Adolin said. “Amaram as a highprince? The two of us spent weeks in jail because of the things that man did.” “I think Amaram killed my brother.” Adolin wheeled around to stare at her. “What?” “Amaram has a Shardblade,” Shallan said. “I saw it previously in the hands of my brother, Helaran. He was older than I am, and left Jah Keved years ago. From what I can gather, he and Amaram fought at some point, and Amaram killed him—taking the Blade.” “Shallan… that Blade. You know where Amaram got that, right?” “On the battlefield?” “From Kaladin.” Adolin raised his hand to his head. “The bridgeboy insisted that he’d saved Amaram’s life by killing a Shardbearer. Amaram then killed Kaladin’s squad and took the Shards for himself. That’s basically the entire reason the two hate each other.” Shallan’s throat grew tight. “Oh.” So how far apart did these two events occur? (From when Kaladin realizes it to when Shallan realizes it) I’m not great a timelines, but I know many of you out there are. @maxal if I recall correctly, you have a countdown going as to how long Adolin has been in Urithiru. I’m guessing that it’s been about a month between these two events — but that is just a wild guess. Please share your thoughts — I want to know! Thanks!
Govir
According to @jofwu's timeline*, Kaladin and Shallan survive the Highstorm on Day 4 of Week 8 of Moth 10 of year 1173 (aka 1173.10.8.4). The last event I have on my copy of the timeline is 1174.1.4.1 (arrival of Mr. T). Also from the timeline: Quote Rosharan dates: 5 days per week, 10 weeks per month, 10 months per year. So with that, it seems to be more than 27 days, but probably not much more. *I'm working off a copy of it, so he may have updated to the exact dates. And my work seems to block and unblock google docs every other day, so I can't check today. Here's his post about his timeline though: Edited October 27, 2017 by Govir Added Footnote
JoyBlu she/her
Wow @Govirthat is exactly what I was looking for — and a whole lot more. @jofwu your timeline is incredible. I hadn’t seen it previously. Thank you!
Jofwu he/him
The date of Kaladin and Shallan in the chasms is certain. That's coming from a lot of work by others, making use of the Highstorm dates in WoR. I haven't been able to update the timeline in a week or two... Seemed like this last week wasn't very helpful with dates, but I need to read more closely. Taravangian's arrival isn't absolutely certain but it should be within a couple days. And just from context, I'm guessing the recent chapters aren't THAT much later. So yeah, something in the ballpark of 30 days sounds right.
