The clinching factor is in those chapters(forget exactly where) it is overemphasized the danger of her scholarly pursuits is ambition 8

It is very unclear which group that phrase focuses on, and the most popular ideas seems to be Heralds, Radiants or Unmade. That said, I agree with you about something being off with Venli. She defenitely knew more than the others, and had her own (probably Odiums) agenda. I hope she is still alive.

Obviously they are kaladin, shallan, dalinar and szeth. But in the WoR's back cover five people are named. The windrunner, the lightweaver, the bondsmith, the assassin and the explorer. The first four are the same of the WotK back cover, but for the explorer... The explorer is forced to choose between the slow death and a terrible betrayal of she believes. Eshonai is the explorer, taking stormform and saving her people and accept the old gods? Or refusing and let her people die in the war against the alethi? The traitor is thus eshonai and her ambition is the know the unknown, to map the whole world. Finding the human and starting the chain of event leading to the everstorm. She seeks liberation from the grasp of the old gods. 2

I agree with you then that Eshonai is the most logical answer. It could be Moash though, just want to throw that out. Trying to murder the king was certainly ambitious, and there is speculation that he will get quite a lot of screen time (what Eshonais screen-time looks like will be a mystery until the book comes out). But yeah, it is most certainly her, since I have a hard time imagining Brandon switching characters.
