Hoid - Breath and Mistborn

I know that there has been sufficient evidence to show Hoid's ability to use Breath as investiture.  Last I knew, there was some doubt as to if he had used the Lerasium bead he took from Scadrial to become an Allomancer.

I recall a thread some time ago discussing the scene in Shallan's flashback when a messenger is talking to her father, notices Shallan standing there, and puts some powder in his drink.  This was theorized to be Hoid in disguise as he later talks to Shallan and prods her about her investiture and if "spren talk to you".  I don't know if this has been confirmed to be Hoid or not but I think is it most certainly someone using both Breath and Allomancy.

Quote

...He glanced at Shallan as she stepped up into the box.  The man started, dropping his cup to the table.  He caught it with a swift lunge, keeping it from tipping over, then turned to state at her with a slack jaw. ....... The newcomer covertly dumped the pouch's contents into his own drink, then raised it to his lips, gulping down the powder."

Hoid is clearly surprised at Shallan's approach.  I think this is because he has at least the 4th heightening and should have been able to sense Shallan approach, for some reason he could not.  He is disturbed by this and so downs some combination of metals, probably including bronze to double check her for investiture.

The reason he could not sense Shallan approaching and so had to show off his multiple magic system ability was Shallan's necklace.

Quote

"The necklace?" Shallan asked.  "Simple, but of aluminum, which can only be made by Soulcasting," the man said to his boss.

I am thinking that at this point, Shallan is subconsciously using investiture and has somehow inadvertently used the aluminum in the necklace to block Hoid's Breath life sense ability.  Similar to a copper cloud hides allomancy.

Maybe this has been discussed already, but I've been away from the forums a long while and just re-read through WoR.  Hadn't noticed the aluminum necklace before.

We know he used Allomancy. We have multiple confirmations on him using Allomancy. We have zero confirmations on him having burned lerasium, even when Brandon was directly asked for clarification on this one.

Is this in SA or another book or a WoB?  I haven't noticed anything though I haven't read everything yet, particularly Secret History.

I meant WoBs. Multiple WoBs on him using Allomancy and zero on him having burned lerasium or being Mistborn. I did even say that's an issue that's creating a lot of confusion but Brandon firmly stood by "you have seen him use Allomancy".

You will need to read Secret History to understand the Lerasium reference.

No, you don't. Remember the smashed pottery near the Well of Ascension? Just like the one the bead of lerasium was in? That was Hoid. He took the other bead.

Thank you for this. I've had to use a WoB where the question implies that it's Soulcasting only as my source on the Coppermind article for Aluminum.

Do you remember what chapter this scene was from?

It's from the flashback following the Middlefest one. When Jushu is being taken by the debt collectors
